Sunspot AR3590 is beginning to get spicy with 2 X-Class bursts overnight although no CME has yet been observed, this sunspot will be the one to watch over the next few days as it turns to face Earth head-on and with more potential for stronger X-Class bursts.

Sunspot group AR3590 as seen from the top of Mam Tor (Peak District) this morning, there's currently a 30% chance of a significant CME at this time as it faces Earth directly with the sunspot now half the size of the one that caused the Carrington Event back in 1859.

I was a bit annoyed the aurora wasn’t a bit stronger so I had to edit the aurora pillars a lot to bring out the colour. Taken around 8PM.

I got excited when i saw that then it dropped back loads.  What we need is a push to over a thousand and at midnight on a very dark and clear night and then you have yourself a potentially good show ☹️

Post-processed last night's images via Lightroom to bring a bit more colour & depth out of the snaps, there's some cracking shots on the UK-AURORA-HUNTERS facebook page that put mine on the Nikon Z7 to shame 😄 the one down-side to living in the UK is that although we get Aurora's they aren't too frequent enough to perfect capturing them on camera.

These were from last nights Aurora display

Unfortunately it was too cloudy to get a proper view, but any display that is visible from southern England is a win if you ask me.

If the cloud breaks, and the moon can be beaten there's quite bit of potential in the next few hours.

It's a year since the widespread Auroras last March.

Good luck Sprites, hope you manage to see something, It's clear here but I can't bring myself to go out as it's pretty chilly out there, and with an almost full moon to contend with, I don't fancy my chances of capturing anything from the south coast, Monday could be a great opportunity though, only problem is it's looking like it will be cloudy.

So Many flares recorded today and one was X class, Keep them camera batteries changed. Sprites

This is interesting though

I've been getting a lot of notifications of coronal holes, flares etc. Not sure I remember my app being this busy!

Mapantz  It's that time of year, March is often the most active month for CMEs Auroras.
