Just the height S.F. !!!! I used to live up in a cottage 50 odd m higher than here and that '250m' makes a difference so often!!! Very white on the tops/Moors and it has put down a layer of slush now (good base).

The effect here in Stratosdale is remarkable, and it reminds me of the type of event we used to get occasionally in late March / early April: the valley bottom had / has sleet and wet snow, and nothing settled, but cross the canal and the ground starts to turn white. Certainly on the drive back half an hour ago the roads were clear up to about 300', slightly slushy to 500', clear but with defined snow to about 800', but above that level it's totally white.

Been snowing here now for 7 hours, but still only got about 3cm. Temp bang on freezing. The girls are rather excited about it all.

Been sleety here on the Wirral all day, for a while had lovely big flakes, now still snowing but threatening to go sleety again. But whilst it's still sticking on the car there is still hope :-) Temp currently hovering around freezing.

Light snow began here around 1130 and became moderate-heavy after 1430, particularly after 1600.

There was 4cm lying at 0900 from yesterday's snow and by 1800 the average depth was 12.6cm. Still continuous moderate snow falling with the temp' at -0.5c.

If it can happen here then it can happen anywhere!

1cm lying, temp +0.2C, dewpoint -1.1C, and snowing, I would describe as about moderate intensity, seems to be settling on most surfaces, albeit in a cul de sac away from any main road.

Light blustery snow still fallin, seems to be gettin warmer though, cos i can see tyre tracks getting darker in colour. Sheltered areas of hedgerow are now just dark wet patches, off the white centre track.

How bored am im...

Snowing here in Hexham although marginal settling. I live out of the town at approx. 160m and its zero degrees and settling. Down in the town sleet. Probably 2-3 cm accumulated. Radar still looks good.

WOW!!!

Still snowing here in Sheffield but only lightly now.

Here at only 117mts asl we have had our heaviest fall in probably more than 5 years.

We have had about 3'' but in the higher suburbs there has been a masssive 8'' and cars are abandoned in crookes, bents green, lodge moor.

The mountain rescue are digging cars out on the derbyshire border about 6 miles out of the city center and all buses in Sheffield have been cancelled and stopped running at 10pm.

All in all a very wintry evening!
