Still snowing in Lichfield and has now settled everywhere. We have had some very heavy snow in the last hour which has added a further 2cm. Snow now much finer again. Temp still just above freezing.

Just the height S.F. !!!! I used to live up in a cottage 50 odd m higher than here and that '250m' makes a difference so often!!! Very white on the tops/Moors and it has put down a layer of slush now (good base).

Snow is now larger flakes and moderate rather than light.

Temperature has dipped to 0.0c

Snow is now starting to stick and road surfaces starting to slush up - snow rate now over powering the salt effect.

Gusty East wind developing

Heavy persistent snow since about Midday. Fields are covered again, starting to stick to concrete properly now.

Well what a day here in Swansea! Pouring with rain and 3.5c at 8am this morning. Started snowing on higher ground at 9ish and by 10.30 snowing heavy just about everywhere! The biggest chaotic situation that I have ever been involved in then ensued with gridlock throughout the city and beyond! Two mile journeys were taking people up to 4 hours (I kid you not!) and the council gritting teams were totally caught off guard. Lorries jack-knifed and cars were abandoned on our busiest of roads and all schools were closed post haste! Police advised drivers to make only essential journeys and every hilly area in Swansea was basically impassable. There was even laying snow on good old Swansea Bay sands! The cause of all this? About 3-4 inches of snow which admittedly fell very intensely. Amusing how quickly the end of the world seemed nigh in a winter wonderland. Fair play to the Meto though they did actually put out a last minute severe weather warning but nobody in low laying areas could possibly have believed it given the relatively mild start to the day! Just shows how unpredictable our great British weather is!

Can confirm the story above, but with 6-7 inches on higher ground on the grass, and a think blanket on all surfaces, biggest snow event here since 1991.

Moderate to heavy snow for most of the day, but only started sticking late this afternoon as the temperature fell to around -0.1c, adding another 2cm to the half melted 3cm from yesterday, currently sleet and i fear will soon turn to rain.

Snow coming down heavy in across all south Sheffield. 3cm deep now, and increasing quick - in some places building on what had not melted from yesterday.

Snow falling steadily since about 14:30, with the odd intense burst mixed in, pic taken below was about 5pm, much deeper now, about 2" so far (look at Buxton weather cam for some good views of current snowy weather around the south pennines) The temp is hovering above freezing at 0.2oC......hope this carries on through the night, looks like im on the western edge of this snow band :D
