Here too. Starting to worry a little bit about those N Sea SSTs again. Shouldn't be a factor here though the Easterly breeze might be moderating air temps - currently 3.7c - 4.2c along the Lincs Coast with 11-16kt easterly winds. Timing could be in our favour - the sun going down will no doubt help.

I was just thinking the heavier stuff may get here when it's just getting dark. Temp now 2.4c in waddo.

PS where can you check dew points?

Ok, got the factory shut down hours early, but there are now 6 of us stuck on site. We've dug the cars out, but the traffic is gridlocked from the end of the road.

I'm putting the hot drinks machine onto free service, and we'll have to raid the development kitchen for tea supplies soon.

whats your guess on how long this will last, precip hasnt been in a rush since it started? at the same time if its due to turn to sleet id rather it dissapeared as it quickly gets rid of snow on the ground

A bit hard to judge ST.,but looking at radar there is a Southern edge to it in a line across Severn Estury and Eastwards but its moving slowly.

Should get 2 or 3 hrs yet i guess.

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows what the temperature in stoke-on-trent is plz? It's been snowing for hours now, but nothing settling still as the ground is soaked

Where about are you? Snow is covering everything in Fenpark which is a bit higher than Hanley. Huge flakes as well. Not sure what the temperature is but it must be falling.

What's the betting that Sunday's low pressure takes a more-southerly track?

That blocking is still evident to the north and it's not going to take much

to bring that Low Pressure a good few hundred miles further south.

Well rotherham still has nothing but sleety rain, looking at the radar it seems as though that band of percipitation has shrunk somewhat?

It can wait another hour though... Just so the temp will have dropped a few points of a degree before it arrives, that way not a flake wud be wasted.. :D

Managed to get home OK (just !) - it's amazing what a difference elevation makes - raining in east Leeds, turned to snow around J27 of M62, quite heavy by the time I got up to J24, and up here already about 3-4 cms (it seems to stick straight away up here) which made the last two miles up the hill and through village quite 'exciting'

Latest radar is showing a band of Heavy looking precip approaching the uk from the SW.

Whats the story with that band, is it ikely to be of snow anywhere or has the current band already introduced the milder air :D:)

If the next lot carrys on moving N/E from the SW then it will arrive in the hours of darkness so atleast the temps would have dropped of a few degress. :)

Regards.

Hi Jed,

I think elevation is playing a huge part at the moment as here in wortley (approx 2 miles from the city centre) it is still raining with just a hint of sleetyness in the heavier bursts.
