Yearly Total of 320mm or just under 13 inches in old money. Can anyone in the country get near to this arid part of the country, It seems mad seeing the rainfall totals in other parts of the country when here in South East Essex we are on for a DRY Year.

I can undercut that figure. 260mm. But that's in the 6 weeks that I've had this thing set up.

I know that it has been a bit wetter here than PIT or JH has recorded, so for this year their figures will have to do..

Since 1971-2000 it stands at 580mm, but from 2001-2006 it is 557mm

So with an anticpated Dry August and September, we will have to go some to get near to average.

I must say I was a little taken a back your low rainfall.

Perhaps Leigh on sea should start some Olive groves off

Know what you mean there Mate, am worried that a re-run of the late 1950,s is on the cards, hardly any rain all that summer whereas every other part of England and Wales was flooded and then one September day all of North Kent and South Essex got absolutely hammered!! Think Kevin (Mr Data) started a thread on it a while back, some serious rainfall totals from that lot and as you say these things usually even themselves out.

Yearly average is apparently 604mm, so a good way to that total already with 5 months still left and the autumn months to come.

So a pretty wet spell from May to July 2007

According to a recent BBC forecast, the actual rainfall total (presumably an average one) was 387 mm

(an incredible 15.48 inches) for the months May, June and July. The average is 186 mm (7.44 inches).

Therefore this summer's rainfall so far is an astonishing 201 mm (8.04 inches) above average

or 208 per cent above average. (Just for reference pruposes 387 / 186 = 2.081).

Has anyone exceeded this already massive three-month total (and if so how much rain fell)?
