Time to take stock perhaps, after a very wet start to December, the seemingly final shower having passed this morning, and the possibility of a mainly dry spell ahead?

My rainfall for 2007:

Jan- 170

Feb - 158

Mar - 130

Apr - 14

May- 113

Jun - 186

Jul - 163

Aug - 85

Sept - 91

Oct - 45

Nov- 84

Dec (so far)- 119

2007 so far: 1359mm

December is already close to the average.

6 consecutive days >10mm.

We do get months over 250mm here though!

2007 is now firmly in the 'wet' category.

Currently on 1175.3 mm for the year so far making it the 7th wettest year in the last 30 with 20 days to go. There's a realistic chance of it ending as the 3rd wettest year, despite the current high pressure, but very unlikely to beat 2000 or 2002, both of which exceeded 1300 mm.

119mm in the first 9 days, nothing but a trace in the following 12.

Rain back today though.

I've recorded 480mm, comfortably the driest year here.

Only June and July were wet, even then nothing like as wet as some areas further south such as South Yorkshire where some places recieved 100mm in one day! June recorded 91mm here and July 83mm, so they were wet, but nothing spectacular.

The rest of the year has been very dry, particularly Spring and Autumn.

My rainfall for 2007:

Jan- 170

Feb - 158

Mar - 130

Apr - 14

May- 113

Jun - 186

Jul - 163

Aug - 85

Sept - 91

Oct - 45

Nov- 84

Dec - 180

2007 -1420mm

Annual average would be approx 1200mm hereabouts.

Meanwhile stats for my home town of Coventry:

Jan- 61

Feb - 95

Mar - 56

Apr - 5

May- 102

Jun - 151

Jul - 133

Aug - 38

Sept - 34

Oct - 41

Nov- 56

Dec - 60

2007 -832mm

Annual average 682mm

Frustratingly, this failed to beat the all time station record (833mm in 2000) by a millimeter. Records began in my Dad's garden in 1981.

This was not only due to the solidly dry weather since August, but also that New Years Eves expected rainfall did not materialise!

699mm for the total of 2007 here.

That seems incredibly low for your location WM! Are there some special geographical features which make it so dry or was it a freak year?
