Well bar a brief shower on Monday evening, the rain has stopped ( :) ) since Sunday. Don't think it'll last though, I may have a dry day today and tommorrow but Friday looks wet, and yes, I saw that warning Mr.D and agree that it certainly would not be good if it turns out correct.

Funny that, we have had downpours every day this week, clocked up nearly 60mm's since Sunday.

I would think that even if Friday's forecast is only half correct the May-July record will go well before the end of the month. Not so sure about the June/July record although a top ten finish looks very likely.

Incidentally, Mr D, on how many occasions has a wet June and July been followed by a dry/ average August?

Yup, certainly a top ten come Sunday I'd say, possibly a top five?

Indeed, I saw it on the news and thought how odd it was that I had escaped with a couple pleasant summer days!

28th July.

Heatwave conditions start to spread from the south west to all areas of the country.

Great news for anyone who's booked up a holiday in Cornwall at that time.

Coincidentally...... :)

Iam going to Cornwall on the 28th!!!

Just watched the latest News 24 forecast, all change again, the heavy rain is now predicted to be over Wales all night as opposed to spreading from the south tomorrow :) Don't be fooled by the areas currently predicted to get the greatest falls, it looks like anywhere in the southern half of britain is in contential.

Hi KTtom! I think that's just the big blob of stuff that's been trundleing across from Cardiff over the past few hours. Have a peep at a rainfall radar for the last 4hrs and you'll see what I mean!

Hi, GW

Yea see what you mean. Its chucking it down now and judging by the predicted rainfall its not going to move much before its joined by the next belt comming up from the south! Certainly going to be an interesting day radar watching tomorrow :cc_confused:

Some very bright echo's just south of B'ham at the mo.

Believe it or not, that stuff that on the radar is going to convectively develop, so lots of thundery activity possible tomorrow!

Good morning MR D,

Where are these figures from? Are they from 1 town randomly picked or an average?

yep, judging by the radar and athe quantity of rain falling from the sky here all morning the May, June, July record will be broken today, and probably by some margin, especially with nearly 2 weeks of this wather to come! Think we will be in top 10 June - July too, maybe top five. The last 3 months have really been remarkable in this part of the world for rainfall!

Indeed, I wonder if they measured as acurately as we do these days though in 1786? :D
