God that looks dangerous, rapids on the roads. A lot of people seem to be staying in their cars overnight or trying to take shelter in homes because they cant get home. BBC hereford worcester appealing for people to let people stay in their homes for the night, and a need for blankets.

<_< what the rivers will be like tommorow

That area of rain over mid Wales isn't shifting is it.

It`s looking better on the lastest radar but it`s still raining here and it`s breezier and colder I don`t mind the cold part.

2 inches...wettest July day I`ve recorded now!!!!

Yep, of course cash for questions is so much more important than millions of pounds of damages.............not, thousands of homes wrecked <_<

Strangely we haven't had a drop of rain at all down here.......possibly the first time in ages

It's starting to throw it down again here after a brief respite and the wind has really got up 20mph - gusting to 35 right on the coast - it's filthy out there and feels more like November than July.

Lost count of the number of fire appliances I saw on my way home. It's getting bad here.

The rain band appears to have intensified again according to the latest radar.

Sorry to anyone who has been flooded and fingers crossed for any near those rising rivers.

One man's extreme weather event is another man's non-event it would seem.

The morning here was dry, breezy and cloudy, rain eventually arriving around 1415 with just a couple of short heavier bursts around 1500. The heaviest rain was a 10 minute spell around 1700 after which it's been continuous light rain.

14.7mm here since 0800 which is well short of the 30-60mm forecast this morning; Buxton has had only 6 mm.

I knew the writing was on the wall when I looked at the radar around 1100 and the main rain area had hardly moved in a northerly direction but was pivoting north westward around a centre over southern England.

It proves that extreme weather events are never a certainty until they're actually happening; if this had been a snowfall event in winter I would be gutted.

T.M

delighted with that report TM as probably it means the Don catchment has not had much more than here.

The flood sirens went for about a minute and stopped!! Talk about mixed messages. Very poor performance.

Just heard from a colleague that it's touch and go for Horncastle now too.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have two thirds of their appliances out as of 10pm tonight.

I've never heard or seen a flood siren before.

Does it sound like the old world war sirens?
