Snow reports 1st-14th January 2008

Got 3-4cm of proper snow at my place of work - everything covered - side roads trecherous. Only the slightest of sprinklings at home on grass and cars, but 100m elevation and bang! If I'd have known I'd have put on my sensible shoes...

Sleet for an hour or so yesterday evening, before it turned to rain, and this morning more sleet which eventually cleared around 1015.

Now snowing to relatively low levels again in Highland Perthshire. Lying for about a week now, something that did not happen last winter.

GF has just called me she is just NE or Preston and she has just had very heavy snow, turned to rain now she said. And some lightning.

Had a very surprising weather event here with a squall and a hailstorm at temps of 7.3c to start as they plummetted down by 3c in 30 seconds followed by now heavy snow in a strong SW wind and already got a covering on snow with temps now at 1.3c remarkable.

Not snow, but VERY heavy hail shower accompanied thunder a few minutes ago.

Torrential hailstorm 1830 here too.

Temperature fell 6c in less than 1 1/2 hours from 8.8c at 1800 to 2.6c by 1930.

Well after a dramatic thunder & hail storm its now blowing a blizzard.....kewl! Temp dropped dramatically from over 7oC to 2.4oC.......turning nice and white outside

Well it's snowing here at the moment big flakes too!

I bit earlier it was loads big hail and lot of high winds now just snow! Very big flakes I dont see any warnings for this area?

Thunderstorm about 8Pm, gusty winds with hail.

Temperatures dropped to ~2oC

Now Heavy wet snow.

Could be a good covering on hills in morning??

Looking at the radars, there are some nice looking showers packing in behind. But this brings up the question, where has this cold air suddenly appeared from? Will it stick around?

Very Suprised to look out my window and see what looked like some slushy snow although it could have been Hail the weather is Awful here Gale force winds Torrential Rain.

Sleeting here now Turning to snow by the looks of things as well doubt we will get any settling as the ground is saturated.
