Heavy wet snow in Aberdeen this morning - struggling to lie in low lying areas although there is a covering of white slush. Snowflakes the size of golf balls at 10.45am in Aberdeen. Some nice clips on the live eye views (Scottish Traffic cams).

Just been to blackburn, could see snow cloud over towards rossendale (se) . seen a couple of cars with 1-2 cm of snow on top parked in the town centre but snow was melting fast. Still no snow at home 8 mile away, but at 6.5 c too warm

Just back from a walk up near the Coupar Angus road about 8 miles North West of Dundee. Beautiful feathery snowflakes falling up there onto about 4inches of crusted snow.[Wish I had thought of taking the camera] The back road was quickly filling in and the snow was even lying on the higher part of the main road despite the gritters. Back at home unfortunately as was the case last night it is sleet and sleety rain.

I was up in Highland Perthshire this morning and there the snow was approx 6 inches deep, of the sticky variety and crusty on higher ground.

Here in north Cheshire we had sleet from between about midnight and 4 am last night and was a bit of a suprise to see the widespread development of precipitation in NW England, Southern Scotland and N.Ireland on the radars - though looking at the charts on the retrocast thread the possibility maybe might have been spotted. Certainly they hinted at more development than was expected further south.

All in all though, just a few flakes here passes for excitement, pathetic. The forecast for the Californian Sierras this weekend is for up to 10 FEET of snow.

I just noticed the Metoffice very late weather warning as well.

I looked out and it's snowing but time for bed.

Temp 0.8C and falling in Hexham at 150m.

Looks like a fun week of weather ahead!
