Heavy sleet earlier this morning although it turned back to rain as the intensity diminished.

Sleeting here. A bit of a surprise condsidering I'm not much above sea level. Higher elevations should be seeing some snow.

Hi SS

I am 800 feet up on the Blackdown Hills and we have only had sleet too. If it's sleet where you are then I am surprised that it's not wet snow here.

Just snowed really heavily here for about 5 minutes - only a few flakes now, most sleety stuff. Nice to see though.

Shame it didn't start snowing at 6am!

Weather reminds me of being a kid in the early eighties, getting home from school with heavy rain and cold, full of expectation! So, in the words of that child its really trying to snow here! The heavy rain is interspersed with sleet, the sky hints at heavy snow not to far up. My dubious 'garden' thermometer says 3c. My elevation is 30m asl.

Just been over Cat and Fiddle between Macclesfield and Buxton.

Almost blowing a gale and heavy wet snow expect it to be settling there now.

Sleet now in Birmingham. Very similar set up to Novmber 2007. I remember some charts showing a similar set up to this last week but many were dismissing it. Only Mr Data supported the possibility of a similar event to this

Temperature now 1.9c, but dew point 1.2c and I understand it needs to be below 0c in order for snow. Despite the radar showing ppn directly on top of me, there is absolutely nothing falling from the sky! We did get sleet earlier, consisting of about 70% wet snow and 30% rain.

Wet but light snow falling at the moment

Heavier spell around 4pm was settling above the 250m line with a strong north wind.

Below 250m mostly sleet and wet snow but no sign of settling.

It has been raining here none stop all day....temp this morning was about 8 and it dropped dramatically after 2pm to the current temp of 2.4!

Sleet from about 3pm then snowed heavily for about 15 minutes about 3.30pm!

Raining a little out there now but i think more is on the way..lets hope so!

Lots of flood water about and rivers bursting banks, so wherever you all maybe, TAKE CARE!!

My daughter has just rung, left Churchdown Gloucester in floods, now trying to get to home in Minchinhampton and they are stuck in traffic in heavy snow, although apparently Stroud does not have snow.
