An unexpected down pour this morning with thunder.

The storm built over this area, started of really close/muggy ( and still is). Some very high based darker clouds built over Colchester, and then thunder from what I would call an elevated storm began. As time went on it began raining, heavier and heavier until we had a veritable monsoon! Thunder was never storm level, more like thundery rain, but the rain was warm, almost tropical.

Isolated storm cell passed to the east of Norwich just ten minutes ago, with thunder every 2-3 minutes or so, about 5 flashes of lightning and 10 rumbles of thunder.

2 storms here, first about 2:30, next about 4:30. Saw plenty of flashes (by North East standards anyway), about 20. A lot of deep thunder but not never very loud.

After 24 hours of very heavy rain I can happily report a thunder storm over east Belfast. Not raining as yet but have had three very loud deep rumbles no visible lightning.

Yes, at long last ballybabe12, some thunder for Belfast! Only heard 3 or 4 rumbles but it's better than nothing! The rain has been torrential and the sky is incredibly dark and angry looking.

A fairly strong storm cell move over me whilst on the golf course at around 11 am this morning with many rumbles of thunder and several lightning stikes to my South East. The main concentration of the storm was around Cramlington which is about 7 miles from Ponteland and if anyone was in that vicinity at the time mention I would like to hear their report.

Evening MIKE

Im sure the cell moved through my area at around 1130 this morning, Hail stones bouncing off the road, heavy rain , worse ive seen for a long time, quite a few rumbles of thunder,

between 1137 and 1139 3.6mm rain accumulated , so im assuming with this amount of precipitation in such a short time the cell went directly over me

Heavy shower just crossed wisbech, cambs ... dumping 13mm of rain between 1600 and 1630hrs!!

Three flashes of lightning, one was seen to be cloud to ground.

.... Then a call from my works alarm receiving centre, one activation ... keyholder response required.

It was nothing more than water running down the wall in front of a dual-technolegy pir.

Well about an hour ago to my surprise, heard thunder in the distance and when I looked outside I could see the rain to the nw from my northerly view. Distant rumbles heard for 3/4 to 1 hour every on average 4 minutes. No lightning seen or even flashes. Rain moderate to heavy at best. Now stopped and everything is brightening up.

Just as a rider to the above,at Arcot Hall GC which is adjacent to Cramlington 2 of my old buddies were struck by lightning while standing under a tree-however I believe they are both ok after being checked out at hospital.
