I wonder if there was anybody on that Island, because i doubt there will be many people left alive now.

Personally, i'm hoping this will make landfall soon, because the quicker US landfall is made, the quicker our other Tropical Storm will develop as shear eases.

140mph sustained winds have been recorded on the isle of youth. Hope people there are safe.

I think we can only imagine how winds that speed feel/sound.

Isle of Youth is a scuba diving haven. Probably wrecked now

NHC doesn't say anything about it at the mo.. i'll keep looking and see if it updates soon tho. Was this on the Beeb website or the tv?

BBC News for about 5 minutes just before the sport - now off so I wondering if they've false alarmed?

I watched the headlines just now and they said it was a Category 4, so probably a false alarm or misinformation, but it wouldn't surprise me if Gustav was now a category 5.

NHC has it at a category 4 with the eye just about slap bang over the island of youth just south of Cuba, these are devastating winds unimaginable in this country, remember they are sustained wind speeds lasting for the time the hurricane is over the area, hopr there is no loss of life.

Sky news' news reel says Gustav is a category 5, although i haven't heard this confirmed anywhere else.

Only a matter of time, methinks..... and something tells me that this will be the last named storm called Gustav. Name retirement imminent.
