The Most fantastic hoare frost I have ever seen in my 52 years. Every branch, every blade of grass covered in white frost,

Amazed even past 11.15am at this hoare frost, picked up spiders webs all over the place , would like to post pics if I could ever figure how to download the pics from this camera onto the PC

This mornings cloud has dispersed leaving behind bright skies with sunny intervals.

The mist was clearing when I heft home in Reading this morning, but we still have thick freezing fog here in Basingstoke and I'm sure the hoar frost on all the trees has been getting thicker during the course of this morning. Our office car park is a skating rink and there have already been one or two near misses. Temperatures in this area are generally in the range -2 to 0 deg C at present.

After yesterday's slightly less cold day, the cold is back with avengence today. Down to just below -5c last night and still half a degree below freezing now. The sea looks gorgeous though with the blue skies and sunshine above.

Amazing day time temps with yellow upper air temps. We're somewhere sub zero here. Nice thick layer of frost on everything.

Also got snow sticking around. Obviously very little, but in driveway, on garage, on one car, on garden paths and generally in garden we have patches. If it makes it to the weekend I'd love it. For its symbolism.

We have had some heavy snow falls here in oxford this afternoon. Started around 11am been on and off since then. Not setteling but good fun either way. I find it interesting that neither the bbc or netweather has mentioned it.

It's warmed up to the heady heights of -1.2 DgC in Mid Sussex, I fully expect people to start divesting themselves of all loose clothes and tan themselves against sun facing walls

The thick fog cleared by mid-morning but the warmest part of the day so far was shortly before 0900, since then the temp' has fallen to -1c and stayed around that value.

Currently dry and cloudy but one or two small patches of blue sky appearing.

Something to watch out for. The tempetures are rising 6c here however the ground is still frozen. Any water running over it at the moment is freezing instantly. Bad for driving, especally around hilly areas.

Yes It's very interesting indeed, given that, the radar, the models or any of the forecasts don't suggest snow for your location.

Seems to me the BBC grossly misjudged the temperatures today. I believe 2 or 3C was predicted, but across the South Midlands temperatures are widely between -2 and -3C at the moment. Light snow falling again here in Oxford, everything is white with ice, frost and snow and the temperature is stuck at -2C. Perfect winter's day ^_^
