Its really coming down quite heavy in Darlington now too. Snow on the main road next to me is beginning to stick, considering its been heavily gritted we're in for some fun in the morning :D

This plus the runs for the week ahead is pure weather porn

Phil, there is still children in this convo, i wonder what Jan has to say about that!

23:00 radar update is interesting to say the least for parts of Yorkshire with a clump of more organised PPN showing from that thicker cloud further South, the radar coverage to the East of us in the N Sea is sometimes poor so i am still expecting some mor showers to hit here soon enough.

I can see a shower cloud to my East right now, i just hope it will head this way.

If we are to have impacts from the stratospheric warming then you'd imagine it'd be next week when the models would be seeing a start to them.......or not?

Just been out with the dog, hard to say exactly what the depth is because it ranges from 0 up to 10 cms depending on which drift you stand in. It's actually stopped now, but with all the snow blowing about in the wind it's hard to tell. Anyway, is there such a thing as a West Yorkshire streamer, because I swear this isn't the first time snow showers seem to be queuing up in a line from the Humber straight to this neck of the woods (see the 23.00 Meto radar and you'll see what I mean) ?

Edit: looks like the next shower's just about to arrive................

5cm of snow here !!! Truly great, perhaps 15cm of snow by morning!!

Only about 1cm three miles down the road in Rawdon. Cookridge is in danger of being twinned with Telford - lol!

Nothing impressive here so far.

Mostly just sporadic convection ebbing through at the moment across the region; with the odd heavy cell. More organised bands probably expected later but for all my luck I'll be either too far north, south, east or west LOL.

Well the Durham snow shield had better be well-prepared tonight PP.

Quite a few snow showers in total here now, as you say activity will pep up as the night goes on...

Who's staying up btw?

1st decent shower of the evening here in Hexham. Everything white and snow blowing all over the place. Still only a dusting though. More to come hopefully.

Hi PTFD,

We have had a good hour of persistent showers over here too :D

Looking at the Meto 23:00 radar there seems to be a more organised band of heavier snow about to push in from the north sea. May even have to stay up and see what it amounts to - think i can because i would imagine that it will be a snow day tomorrow so no getting my little girl up early

I'm loving the look of the radar atm, lots of showers feeding in from the North sea.

Excellent!!

Yep, just to confirm we have a trough moving in from the N Sea bringing much more organised showers to Yorkshire. This is about to hit the coast now. It seems North Yorkshire is right in the firing line :D

I think I'll probably stay up till then because it's only an hour or so away.

That shower i was on about in my last post typically just broken up into 2 and all i had was a quick small flakes snow shower.

Hoping for something more significant and worthwhile during the night and into tomorrow.

Also to note that we have another area of instability setting up over N Holland! This is going to be a good night, once again direction Yorkshire, 2nd only to the SE at the moment.

Alas, I have to head to bed now. I am hoping my trust Saab with its winter box will get me up the single

lanes and off to Leeds for tomorrow.

Or its a LONG walk!!

Hi there Ned, absolutely !!! I'll certainly be 'working from home' !!! Sledges at the ready...............

And if the current model output is to be believed, this is just the quick drink before the starter ;)
