Temp here in weston is 2.8c

Not sure it's going to drop enough before the front arrives.

How quickly is your temperature going down. Mine seems to have gone down by 0.7C in the last hour after a steady fall of about 0.2C per hour before then.

It's actually just gone back up to 2.9c.

It was 3.3c at 5pm, been dropping very slowly

Looks to me like it's breaking up or am i being a bit simple?

I'm not confident to be honest of much and i reckon it's going to be that cr#ppy wet stuff that turns to slush at a hint of a rise in temps!

Expecting it to turn to rain by daylight.

Someone earlier referred to bob crapton's forecast on HTV West at 6.27pm this eve. HTV's forecasts are notoriously inaccurate IMO.

It just ain't cold enough for me.

Angwin now on BBC Points West said he's not certain - 2 to 5cms in the main, but more than 20cm on cotswolds. However, by about 2.00am tom turning to rain, sleet, then snow again, but by 8.00am only snow for Cotswolds and parts of Wales.

Last night he was more definite about snow.

Definite downgrade for most of the region.

The trend over last 24 hours definitely 'not good' IMO.

EDIT: News 24 the same as Points West. Not surprising as both BBC. If that cold air can dig in maybe, just maybe!

Wales looks good except for coastal south. cotswolds - not sure

Spotlight just said that it will turn to snow over Dartmoor and the Blackdown hills, with wet snow or sleet possible over Bodmin Moor before reverting to rain later in the night, but S. Wales looks like its going to get a pasting! Jammy.

If you look back at the fax charts i posted earlier ( 3.30 ish) Where the isobar shows the wind moving eastwards has best chance of Snow. Upper temps 850s will be near -3 around there not perfect but with sustained cold surface temps and cold stubborn air. The bristol channel may have an effect on coastal areas of Wales but inland elevation should be fine. Living in Cardiff little worried about turning sleety after some snow as really is marginal there, same could happen accross in Southwest England. The warmest air will track to our east probably as far east as London. The chance of snow and a fair amount i say cardiff is about 80% as the wind direction and i hope if anything the warmth of channel will help rather than hinder. Brecon Beacons possibly a foot of it.

What ever you get be greatful its FREE

i wish i could say all Cornwall etc will see it but i can not.

Its another lampost watching night , But before you ask will it snow in Cardiff JAY ......... more than likely!

Lol

Well it has to be a good sign that places are seeing snow at the moment, I thought it would of been rain at this time.

I forgot to say, when I was in the gym today I overheard a conversation and one bloke said "were sposed to have 8 inches of snow tonight"

I chuckled

A few (and I mean a FEW!) small flakes blowing around in the wind in the Carmarthen area of south west Wales. Temp 1.9C (although I'm sure my thermometer reads about 0.5C too high!).

This isn't the main precipatation band though, that comes later.

Sky News forecast at 6.58pm - looks a little better.

This is a nowcast event! Still not cold enough IMO for decent snow that will last. We really needed a couple of days of daytime temps at freezing, rather than a few degrees above.

Can confirm- light snow in Pontyates! Just seen Derek's forecast and it seems pretty nailed on! Could it be two Snow Days in one week? There's still pretty full snow cover here, so here's hoping for another few inches!

The sky has had that 'heavy' look to it all afternoon- proper winter, this. Ace!

I wonder when we're going to get some of that lovely powdery snow we had on Monday again.
