Snowing hard for the past hour here in north Devon (between Hatherleigh and Okehampton). Only 2 hours ago the BBC forecast said we'd be dry and I turned to my wife to say 'what on earth are they on about?'

GFS wins AGAIN. If you look at the precipitation output on the 12z they have this spot on.

Heavy snow here for a while, whiteout conditions at times. 3.5cm lying on the roads and pavements ATM. Very slippy and treacherous out there!

Temp has slightly risen over last hour or so, up to 1.2c with a dew point of -0.8c. This looks like if all things come together then it maybe time for hereford to get in on the action!!

I'm finding it difficult to believe I'm down in the tropical area of south Devon at the moment- it's snowing and settling again in Exeter!

As last night, heavy snow arrives (earlier than I thought earlier as it's moving quickly) and the temperature has dropped to 0.4c from what had been a constant 0.7c for a few hours.

Rapid settling on the few surfaces that had thawed during the day.

Wow to this weather!

SouthWest is Best.........

What annoys me with the Met office is they issued the forecasts at 655/7pm & they were already wrong-

Why not look at the poxy radar-!!!!!

Good luck for tonight guys- blow it this way to the Bexleyheath alps...

Currently snowing, i hope the temp drops. At this rate it's only going to settle on existing snow, as the rest of the covering is slushy wet stuff or melted completely.

When is it going to move east?

Yes WIB. And it's surprising how many of the more 'experienced' NW members in the Model Discussion thread keep knocking the GFS, but over the last few weeks it's been surprisingly accurate IMO.
