A brand new thread for today, with a stagnant humid airmass over much of the UK and an upper vortex across Nern England, we are likely to see more showers and t-storms develop with sfc heating today - particularly across central and Nern England.

Netweather have issued a storm forecast for today: http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=...e9e20f5f4660f7b

Looks like more storms developing most afternoons during this coming week, more particularly across western and northern areas, hot and dry in the E and SE

Stayed dry here overnight but was camping up The Wrekin 400 meters high and there was some thunder & lightning rather nearby about 2-2:30am.

Very muggy this morning, already 18.5c

Hoping for some storms through the week.

Although I had a storm last week, it was a bit of a weak effort.

Cool, nice bit of hail fog there too!

Didn't see any hail yesterday from the storms I watched near Ashford, though the rain was tropical.

i see the met office are playing it safe once again by putting out a weather warning for the likely areas affected by showers/thunderstorms.

i didnt think we were forecast anything today!! :D

they did that yesterday, yet the first thunderstorm to develop was over Kent where we weren't included in their initial warnings :D

what vital ingredients seem to missing for next weeks storms? because the met office show little sign of any convection going on next week, despite the high CAPE levels progged. i know it doesnt always boil down to CAPE, as there need to be other factors included, but id love to know what was missing.

I bet they are playing it safe for now because of the unpredictability of storms at times. They dont want egg on their faces right now. :D

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Widely hot and muggy with a fair amount of sunshine. Thunderstorms and torrential downpours are likely to break-out in places at times, though more particularly towards the west.

looks like they go for storms to me

Is the cloud due to break here today?

Yesterday it stayed cloudy the entire day without even seeing the sun once, and that hindered the convection alot.

Just hope today is different, at least it warmer :D

Nice hail fog, never seen that in the UK before.

Feeling quite humid here this morning, but still fairly thick cloud is covering the NE. As Nick says in his forecast we need this to break.

Western parts of N England look best at the moment, where the cloud is already broken...

A fairly strong cap currently in place??........

Up here, the clouds are breaking up quite nicely, a couple of hours or so earlier than yesterday, allowing some warm sunny intervals.....bodes quite well for later, as I think I'm in quite a prime area today :D
