Paul, I'd like to add one:

There's no need to accuse the MetO, BBC (to name the two most picked on) and anyone else on the planet of being useless just because they haven't agreed with your totally unrealistic hopes for 40 metres of snow in Dorset (or anywhere else).

Goes and ducks from incoming snowballs.

we'd all be crushed to death/ buried alive if there was 40 meters of snow!! if the met office forcast thaT people would literally go insane, before realising it was a typo and they meant to put 40mm.

The best thing ever was last year, it was January and i was wondering if thered be any more snow that year and after only about a week of using netweather lots whoo -- 100% chance snow a week in advance- at no point was it downgraded, think it even upgraded, and it sure did snow --10 inches!

scince then things have been a bit more disappointing, havent even had first frost yet, this time last year wed had snow & ice.

Not sure, but isn't the 'telford' (mm in S.I.) the new foot?

But it's so ruddy true!! LOLOL.

As for thunderstorms they have become as rare as snow these days ...

I also say we (or at least I) dont get the fogs I used to now in the christmas pudding, less fog, less snow and generally less cold weather

:)

And, on occasion, that even extends to: I know it's snowing but I just can't see it! :cold:

Classic. :cold:

I love NW in the winter and the usual madness that occurs on the threads.

'Morning Dave... :good:

And, how the net-weather community (as a whole) has evolved since the days of the Snowatch bunfight...You could 'almost' call it a modern era?? :shok::help:

And finally... The weather will do what the weather does - so lets' just enjoy the ride biggrin.gif

Great thread Paul

And what you have said is so very true.

And I agree most of all with the last sentence. The weather will indeed do what the weather does!smile.gif

If only the term 'modern era' could be accidentally swear-filtered? :o

Yes, and accidentally replaced with the word 'atmosphere'.

You should also add this one:

No matter how circular a wispy cloud is to the north of Scotland, it is NOT a polar low.

That one is aimed at myself.

This deffo needs to go on the list. I remember clearly all the argy bargy about polar lows last winter :)

Hello everyone,

I'm hope no one objects to non-technical people like myself joining this forum. I joined when we had the snow event beginning of this year. The forum had me with either my nose glue to the window peering out into the night or my eyes franticly scanning the posts here to see if anywhere close had snow falling. The forum gave me people to talk to who didn't say "put the kettle on and stop looking out of the window, your letting all the heat out".

Hope it starts to get cold soon.

I have to say that it's my parents who instilled in me my love of snow and I'm doing the same to my grandchildren.:nonono:

Hi, you will find lots of people who are happy to lamp post watch at 4am (from their room of course) for a sign of a flake of snow, so you will be in good company.

Joined on my birthday as well which has over the years often had snow, especially my 21st
