Evening Andy, long time no see! The only place I will allow it to miss is the train line that goes from Waterloo East to Barnehurst Stn - just so I can get home from work laugh.gif

I don't like the idea of the snow turning to rain tomorrow nonono.gif according to lok east

Well it looks as if the further south east you are the more chance of staying as snow or sleet :cold:

Great forecast by Peter on BBC London. It looks like we will have snow showers first thing tomorrow morning. Lets hope the frost tonight and cold wind tomorrow afternoon keep temps low enough to keep the snow falling.

How much are we expecting tomorrow morning? Any ideas guys?

It will be the 'calm before the storm' so to speak. Thurs/Fri will be interesting with snow potential coupled with freezing temps :cold::cold::cold::cold:

If you look at the charts its inevitable

HOWEVER

Keep an eye on dews/temps....even the highest res models such as the NMM have been 2c too mild on both temps and dew today

Theres also the added advantage now that the latest Fax's show the fronts occluding

Could well be that from the home counties southwards we see more sleet rather than rain as the back end passes through

We then have a very promising night ahead on thursday, theres going to be a lot of tired members in here on friday

Someone put the coffee on

That would be my take on it, especially if it arrives after dark.

Stuning 12Z and if that verifies im sure some of us wouldn't give a monkeys what happens afterwards.

With so much to concentrate on im going to focus on the E,ly which has certainly upgraded these past 48hrs. Here is the latest +48 fax chart and the forecast that would go with this is a real blast to the past.

http://www.meteociel.../fax/fax48s.gif

Simply put on Thurs you will find showers turning to snow and becoming more frequent during the day. During the evening the snow showers would become heavy prolonged and merge into longer periods of snow. The areas most likely to see the heaviest falls are Lincs, Norfolk, Notts, Leicestershire, Northants, Cambs. Derbyshire.

During friday the snow showers will continue.

http://www.meteociel...72-21.GIF?15-19

Only later in the day will the snow showers beging to fade away.

Now this forecast is based not only on the model runs but previous experience of similiar synoptics. Obviously due to the nature of showers some will be hit harder than others and some will experience snowfalls outside the area I mentioned. However 2-5cm of snow is likely over a wide area but falls of 20-30cm cannot be ruled out!!

Certainly from the model output it looks around those amounts

However closer to the eastern coasts we've already seen from the weekend just how much convection can kick up in the north sea at the moment....

Tomorrow morning I think that 1-2cm may fall in a few areas in our part of Britain, but nothing more

Thanks TEITS, for those charts, agree that the Easterly has upgraded in the past couple of days, great chance for some pre-christmas snow, shame the Easterlies are unlikely to last too long

Im sure some locations had between 20-30cm of snow due to the Thames streamer.

Thanks NeilSouth. 1-2cm would be a great start for us in the South East.

Temps are on the rise here.... Its gone from -1.6c to -1.1c in the last 45mins. Is this high level cloud? Or approaching snow?

Thanks,

MagicBat

At the moment based on the model runs the areas I highlighted could see the heaviest snow especially Norfolk, Lincs. However Kent will also see heavy snow but in my opinion E Anglia are more likely to see the heaviest snow.

Anyway nobody really knows what will happen because its all about nowcasting i.e radar watching.
