Just a temperature update - when I left my house this morning, the temperature was -5C. Here at the office, it was -2C approx 30 mins ago. Doesn't feel any warmer since.

I'm shocked to see the BBC still not showing any snow for East Anglia and the South-East for tomorrow, what are they playing at? The models suggest quite a spell of heavy snow through tomorrow and into tomorrow night

Absolutely. Having said that, if theyre going by NWP output then theres a period of marginal dewpoints during the day on thursday, its not until thursday evening that we really see (almost) guarenteed snowfall - provided the precipitation is there

It still looks as though it will be the overnight period on thursday that will be the more severe period for EA and SE....that is of course possibly until the weekend

Think about it , when would you prefer it to snow ?

During the day , higher temps , dewpoints and lots of traffic

During the night , Low temps , Low dewpoints and hardly any traffic?

So we have the best possible time in the south east all night into friday!

Looks as though theres some energy being kicked up perhaps from the occlusion which initially faded out judging by the activity being reported on here now

Very much so, it's what I usually do when potential snow is around. I re-subscribed last night.

A few small flakes falling at the moment. It's overcast and -1.7c now, but it's been down to -4.1c overnight. A hard frost all over.

-4c in the end here about 6 miles North East of Southend.

Still @ -1c and -5c Dewpoint at 9am so plenty cold enough.

I would like to re-subscribe for the radar. The problem is I can't remember my login details and also last time a member kindly treated me to NW Extra. So I don't really know what to do?

I would ask Paul but I don't want to trouble him at this busy time.

0.3 here very misty went down to a low of -4.2 last night but by 7am it was up to -1

Would be very surprised if it falls as rain. The temp climbed by 6C yesterday in the sun to a maximum of 1.9C. With cloud cover today I can't see us getting above freezing .

-7.2C was the low last night

Light snow here in Sawbridgeworth, East Herts now. Interesting that the PPN up further north does seem to be moving reasonably slow and is quite moderate at the moment, would be ideal if it hit around here 4pm onwards. It certainly seems worth watching, wondering if this is going to surprise a few people as it heads down.

We had -4.1 at 6am here in Barnet - a few light flakes in the air, nothing major just yet!

Anyone thinking of Netweather Xtra radar, just do it. Updated every 5 minutes, knock spots off Meto and Meteox, it also covers Europe so you can watch the showers forming over the North Sea!

I also use the postcode zoom a lot.

Currently 1c here in Stevenage. Reading back I hear it was snowing here earlier. Wish I'd gotten up earlier now, nothing here at the moment and nothing to show for what was happening earlier.

I will say the sky is leaden though and it looks like it could snow any minute.

I think looking 180 hrs out,long way i know,but if the low pressure that tries to introduce milder air is delayed even by a day say,the jet dives south markedly,and its left in no mans land, and has no power to keep running NE,put it simply haha(i could make a p*** up in a brewery look complicated),a bit of luck on timing and i think could add a few days to the cold and a good chance of more snow to boot

In other words, you need a Theta-W at <2C for snow to be guarenteed. Low values Theta-W air departs from the South and East, today by early evening, but starts to move, well, about, now, actually

But main event and the highest probabilities of snow move in late Thursday:

Personally, unless you are elevation, I wouldn't have too much hope for today. For sure low thicknesses will contribute to precipiation falling as snow, but it won't (shouldn't) be organised.
