-6C at Glasgow Airport now :)

And just as if it needed proving again that the weather station at Glasgow Bishopton is a freak, it is only -1.8C there (a mere 3 or 4 miles away from the Airport). Funny that the weather station at Glasgow Bishopton is the one used to work out people's cold weather payments for the whole of Greater Glasgow. It is the warmest weather station in the whole of west central Scotland. Tonight's temps say it all. Rant over

Also, a wee update on the disturbance off Norway. It is not a polar low, we would see something similar to a hurricane type closed circulation by now, although it is still developing.

Spot of weather-inspired vandalism needed on that weather station then - can you see the headline?

Met Office perplexed by fragments of zimmer frame embedded in specialist equipment

Ok, no polar low, maybe a bit of extra ppn off it though?:rofl::drunk:

It is still a well developed comma cloud so plenty mucho showers for the NE!!!:)

I'm actually still watching the disturbance as it may yet "close"?? I just don't want to have egg on my chin again....

Do I detect a toy throwing exercise from our southern cousins on the model (and others) thread? Hasn't the cold air reached there yet? Have we really had embedded cold air for over a fortnight now?

Exactly Mondy, talking about "when the cold air gets established" is a warm rag to a cold Scotsman

I wasn't aware the cold ever went anywhere, with the exception of 2 6 hours periods on Christmas Day and yesterday.

Also, Eastern Scotland was 2.8C below the average! WOohoo!

Warm sector on Friday/ Saturday looks almost non existent at the surface for most inland areas:post-9298-12622959859713_thumb.png

*boing, crump, thwack, semolina* Just opened the nursery door a little, that was the noise of...

There are now more toys landing here than snowflakes, and there have been plenty of snow flakes recently. We shouldn't really mock. After all, they get weeks on end of hot sun every summer, we get 2 days of heat and then 2 months of slightly less cold rain than we get in winter. This is our payback for enduring endless cloud and rain in summer time. I am sure I talk for many on this thread......

A warm sector is relative, warmer than what?? :drinks: 2 weeks of snow on the ground??

Indeed, a warm sector may be just what we need to pep up the precip a little?!!

As you've said before! We know it's cold in Scotland laugh.gif

We know that you know that we have snow. We're just picking on some posters in the model thread who don't seem to know that we know that we have snow. D'ye know?? :drinks:

Tantalising. Can't decide if we'll get something or nothing, joy or dissapointment from this feature yet. What do you think LS ?

We've been totally spoilt for almost every kind of cold weather event and synoptic feature this past 15 days and counting ... and this is just the latest one. Fantastic stuff :drinks:

Just looking at the large bank of cloud starting to move out from Norway, is that our low thats to develop for tomorrow? looks a fair size if its all to come our way

Thing thats the same thing ive been looking at mondy... i dont think its fog as its been moving south all day behind the feature that is now just off our ne coast. if thats for tomorrow then i think we could all get a taste of it!:drinks:

I think you'll do better than me from it to be honest, as events from the north tend to favour southeast and northeast Scotland, though it looks a wee bitty similar to the last one, which brought 4-6 inches to these parts! Tonight looks promising for you to pick up another Forth streamer, though I doubt anything will get to here, but then again the band to the north looks pretty imposing, with that feature coming in behind it as well. I think with the way the wind is blowing, if Aberdeen/Stonehaven get anything, we'll get some of it as well.

Ok, better go enjoy the pre new year festivities!

LS

:yahoo::clap:

MrsCatch has just issued a drunko-warning for by-tor:

Copious quantities of Glayva falling down necks in the Edinburgh region may lead to drunken patches later in the evening. Please be aware of getting drunk from the feet up. You may feel fine at first but will eventually realise on your next trip to the loo that very drunk patches have formed all over your body. Motorists are advised to take care if you venture out on the street as you will be staggering all over it.

By 9am tomorrow morning fuzzy patches will have developed right across your head. Police advise not to travel further than the medicine cabinet to collect 2 paracetemol and return to bed or couch.

Further updates will not be issued as issuer will be fast asleep.

Inverness has made the BBC News after two weeks of astounding weather.

It has been a strange evening......we have had light snow, heavy snow, thick fog and even froze for a short while!

Yes the little piece of punctuation in the north sea is going to be responsible for a few more showers yet I feel.

A very happy New Year to one and all.........:yahoo:
