Well, I'm seeing the coldest temperature of today its just hit freezing...

And as for hitting the whole of the NE coast.

Scroll down and look at this page...

http://www.wundergro...pe=WEATHER&MR=1

only one place has a + dew points, and that's far NE...

So until people in this region start reporting sleet/rain, then i'll believe it.

lewis

Most of Leeds (bar higher ground) has a dew point above freezing and I'm sure Leeds isn't the only place.

Thats Leeds though? Its not N york moors, Hull, Beverley...

I don't know what your getting at, as it stands now conditions are perfect, unless your dew point is above freezing..

Yep, temp here is now the lowest since early this morning at -1.1°C with a DP of -3.0°C. If the precip gets here it will surely be snow. On Raintoday though it is showing as sleet: especially over the N York Moors whilst in the Vale of York it is snow.pardon.gif Go figure....

I don't use Rain Today, i find it very very inaccurate, not just a personal point of view a lot of people i talk weather with don't use it.

I use Net Weather extra and for the sake of a couple of pound a month it's a wonder tool

Looking at the NW extra precip type radar, its only shows extreme NE coastal areas seeing a wintery mix, even that is very little now on the radar as most of that too has turned back to snow.

Because you said-

"only one place has a + dew points, and that's far NE..."

So I was saying that Leeds does have a dew point above freezing.

Yes but the warm sector is no where near Leeds, and Leeds is West and Leeds is not in the firing line of this precip where the warmer sector is...

It's 0.9ºc here. We've had some showers today with light to moderate falls of snow.

All this talk of warm sectors, last time I check the temp outside was -2 with dew of -3!! Anyway, just returned from our annual trip up to scarborough and was pleased to see loads of snow cover over the yorkshire wolds particulary. The roads were horendous this morning, I don't think a single gritter had been out as ALL the main roads were covered in either snow or ice, very scary. We had a few showers of snow whilst at scarborough which was quite nice. Really hoping for more tonight and tomorrow now. I am watching the radar with interest.

Just to note, it snowed the other day with a dp of 0.4+.

DP is below freezing here but i'm not in a City/Town or on the Coast.

It was snowing lightly not long back here.

Certainly no "warm sector" here. I live in Osgodby (Around 200 metres from the coast and I'm getting a temp of -2.8C. Had a light snow shower about half an hour ago and now thick freezing fog!

Temp here -2.1°C with a DP of -3.7°C.

Showers seem to be fizzling out as they cross the N York Moors. I was afraid of this: don't get a lot of wintry stuff when the wind is due North, there has to be an easterley component. Looks like a dry night.

Upgrade on the GFS precipitation charts, especially for West Yorkshire, as there is a front moving down from the north west which may affect West Yorkshire and then the front moving down from the North/North east.

BBC chart for tomorrow afternoon is interesting...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/10209

...what looks like a trough coming inland around Newcastle at midday, descends south-west towards Leeds by 1500 but has all but disappeared by 1800.

Is this the South Yorks snow shield at work ?? :)

YO60 mate :drinks:

Cheers mate, look's like your going to get a few more cm's, fingers crossed.

The showers are not progressing South much, even when they do they loose intensity, so i think i may give up on tonight.

Ill keep refreshing radar and this thread, i'll play a bit of free poker on ladbrokes.

Looks like the showers won't hit the coast after-all.

Got a good dumping of snow today while visiting family between York and Malton. At one stage the A64 was completely covered and closed in both directions. Ended up abandoning the car a short distance from my destinations, but later returned after the road was snowploughed. There was about 4 inches on the road. Some of the heaviest snow I have seen. I would guess 4 to 5 inches fell in 1 hour.
