A dusting of snow in Melton Mowbray this morning at 0630, no in Derby at work and the sun is out but there's a mass of cloud to the north.

Just had a brief shower back here in Melton but nothing amazing just yet.

It looks to be skirting to the north of you right now, but should sink south over time.

Its very frustrating watching the radar, seeing all the precip just to my north.

Try being in Leicester .. The Cheshire Gap is sending in a stream of clear Blue skies right over us. We need the winds to switch and we need them to do so before all the PPN ends up in the North Sea. A small low moves west this afternoon from the North Sea which is going to cause tonight's heavy falls. It will be interesting to see where abouts this low comes in. The 6z has upgraded ppm for the Midlands over night and during tomorrow.

Woke up to a dusting in Northampton which I was absolutely NOT expecting. Great surprise!

Looking at the latest GFS, tonight's snow is back on for ALL of us. East Mids, West Mids, South, and even the South East.

That to me is the best possible scenario. Nobody misses out!

By the way, the front still hasn't cleared Northants @ 6pm according to this run. Reminds me of the UKMO yesterday. MEGA slow to shift.

This is me this morning ->

I drove to Loughborough station for my train to Derby, it's a gamble as the road between Loughborough and Melton gets it bad if it falls!

big changes in 06z within -T24, shows the level of uncertianty so wouldn't worry too much about the specifics and just base it on nowcasting.

snow falling very nicely here and accumulating yahoo.gif

Tell me about it I used to work in East Leake, a village which stopped if it snowed!

Mind you the road to Oakham is pretty scary when it has 3mm of lying snow.

Day off, so not a problem, that`ll be tomorrow morning.

For Andy and Chris in Leicester - I can now confirm that the gap in the band of snow, is in fact, dry.

If you look at the radar, you can see it, as it approaches Derby, just skirt back t'up North of here.

If you dont :), you'll end up :)

Thick snow here (SW B'ham). Car and drive already covered and it's only been snowing for 20 mins! Glad I followed the advice of netweather and was first in the supermarket this morning.
