The heavy snow quickly passed through here in just an hour and has stopped so I wouldn't bank on it stalling. All depends on location I guess.

I'll be watching what happens this pm on the Mway cams. Mix and match to suit yourselves ....

:) The cameras always crack me up. I am pretty much at junction 24, and its clear (as it is here). Got to junction 25, and there is snow.

First snowfall of the winter commenced in Evesham at 10.50am biggrin.gif And looks like there's a fair bit to come!

Dare I say it Andy, a bit of a streamer developing to our WNW ?

Morning all,

I got back from a 3mile jog about 40 mins.ago as the snow started really coming down heavily.

It`s that lovely powderey snow, reminds me of proper snow we used to get from Winters of years ago, lovely stuff.

Now it`s covered all surfaces and still coming down well.

Temp.-1C.

It`s difficult to decide from radar how this lot is going to develop as the day goes on but it appears there`s some circulation in the flow going on around Mersyside so i guess that`s the new low.

Things could get really serious for some locations as the day goes on.

That's what I was thinking - it's not directly N-S, do you think it will stall for a while or do you expect it to keep its southwards movement?

Light snow at last...

Its actually been light snow here for about the last 20 minutes.

My best description would be like being in a gigantic chicken koop, with only 4 chickens in it, 'avin' a scrap. Any lighter, and it will cause a thaw on the ground :whistling:

At last some sign of a Southward movement of the Northern ppn , On the 11am radar, this is probably why some people in Nottingham are now reporting light Snow. If this trend continues then things might start to look up for Leic/Notts/Derby early this afternoon.

When we're saying light snow, we really mean light snow! It is almost non-existant! :pardon:

Looking at the national radar loop suggests that the general southward motion of the low has slowed in the last 1/2 hour meaning that the precipitation associated with the southern and northern flanks will also become stationary for a while. 4cms of very powdery snow now lying and roads not gritted.
