As the wind turns northeast and strengthens a bit, those showers from the northeast will approach our region but at the moment I think the Pennines will mainly benefit.

Karyo

wonder if ROchdale counts as the pennines whistling.gif just in case lol

Blow some of that my way please.... Very very light snow again here.

You'll be extremely unlucky not to get hit by this thing. Even given the very slow movement of the band, it must surely hit you very soon? It's still grinding its way south isn't it?

Proper big flakes now. This is getting better and better. *does a funky dance*

According to the Raintoday radar I am now approaching the back of the band of showers. But if I look out of my window its grey cloud for as far as I can see! Still snowing now and has been since 6am.

its impressive here now I have to say, it started as very fine snow about 2 hours ago, and it's now good size flakes, dry variety, although it is 0.5C so when it stops it will melt somewhat, however before that happens were going to end up with an inch or two here, at the moment there's about 1.5cm

Good to hear Stephen! Hopefully you'll get to maintain your cover as the wind has turn northeasterly.

I am under the band now but it's not heavy.

Getting very light here now and has done for a while. Can't see much more accumulating today.

Current temp is 1.5c and the only way now is down down down.

Still snowing here, that band of snow thats been stuck for hours appears to be heading South.

Why is the South of England stealing our thunder already when its not even snowing yet. Cant

understand these "extreme" warnings of a foot of snow down South, when we've had more than that

here! TV tomorrow will be intolerable coz it will be non stop coverage on all news channels &

god help us if it reaches London

North Wales coast is getting hammered at the moment! beaches on the Lleyn Peninsula are covered - those down south are going to get absolutely pasted later and tomorrow. http://www.wirralcam.org/rhosneigr.shtml

I don't really want us on the news to be honest, as it would make us look like amateurs. unsure.gif

Snow refusing to get heavier. Keeps changing to bigger flakes then going back to small, it's light and sometimes moderate, damn hills zapped this band's energy!

Is the sky clearing now where you are?

Not yet, but there appears too be a clear patch to the north of manchester. Once those skies clear it is going to get COLD! May even be dark by the time it does so no further heating from the sun.

EDIT: Clear of snow rather than cloud. The clearer skies are much further north.

Great pictures. They have really made me jealous

Aaron

I am amazed thae snow isn't so bad in Crewe, it is very deep in Macclesfield, Wilmslow etc. I wonder where it stops, is there snow in Congleton and Sandbach?

very odd here. The wind has really dropped, and the granular fall has been replaced by much larger flakes, just fewer of them. A very rapid change
