Interesting - I just tried to open my window to get a feel of the temperature outside and it's frozen stuck!

Could it make it to here in the Northwest??

That's certainly the question on my lips at the moment. One thing's for sure, it will make far better progress through the Pennines than those recent easterly snow showers have (if indeed it is heading this way).

But one thing for sure in the next couple of hours someone going to get a pasting LOL

Doesn't look like a Polar Low to me, though I'm no expert, seems like the feature that was already forecast.

-10.8°C here now, doesn't seem to be budging any lower though.

James

been following this for the last couple of hours i suspect you are right but earlier hit had that curl

that looked like a PL anyway not going to effect us

GFS op run has thrown a right snow fest Sat/Sun for NW England will have to look at a few more runs

before we all go into meltdown again

Morning all, good grief it's cold out there this morning. Just caught BBC weather and Carol Kirkwood confirmed it was a polar low, and also said that Woodford got down to -18c last night, although I can't see it listed in the obs.

I don't have any way of finding out what the temp is here, apart from the car, but we take our readings from Mcr Airport. All I know is that it's blimmin cold :):):)

Ah so it was one, well forecasted for a polar low though.

Temp hadn't budged for the past hour here but now seems to taking a last minute tumble! -11.3°C now :)

Oh....not sure I can see where that snow would come from. It was quite depressing how the showers were rolling in from the north sea and heading down Northumberland right towards me, only to fizzle out almost instantly over the Pennines.

She said something about a weather system crossing the region overnight and the fresh snow adding to the problems.

Looking at the updated graphics on the BBC website, looks as though there are a few bands of showers going to move through over the next few days. Don't know what I'd prefer really, more snow or very low temperatures?

Ah, ok. Carol Kirkwood didn't make any mention of it, and the national charts didn't show it, but of course, they were concentrating on the half a centimeter of snow which might fall at the top end of Hastings Road in Maidstone at around 11.35 this morning. Live reports to come from there later today.
