This morning I had to clear about 2cms of snow off the car - the wind had blasted snow onto every panel - amazing really considering this was a small event as such. Roads were very slushy too. A nice end to the cold period - wonder what mid/late Feb will bring?

Hi all

I just wanted to share this picture i took yestarday of our garden. Where the sky was so clear and we had lovely sunshine, the sun had melted half the snow from the garden.

I thought it looked quite amazing!cool.gif

Very frosty and cold morning, few snowflakes falling in the last half hour or so but nothing to get excited about (yet), just pretty to watch.

Not sure if I should tempt fate and mention the seagulls that I just noticed flying round outside whistling.gif

That'll largely be the way of things today.... we expect the (mostly) light snow to become somewhat more widespread later today, extending perhaps to parts of Herts, Bucks and Beds.... see latest prognosis / high-res graphics I've recently posted at http://bbc.co.uk/ianfergusson

Cheers

Ian

Just had a look out the kitchen window and we have little snow flakes. You have to be looking for it to see it. Current temp is around -2c here. cold.gif

Thanks for popping in, Ian! I hope you're right as I'm getting snow withdrawal symptoms here smile.gif

Hard frost here this morning and lots of sunshine. I guess it's better than mild.

I was standing in the playground the other day and someone mentioned more snow on the way (ha ha) and everyone around me groaned! I had to keep quiet. Does anyone else feel they have to hide their addiction in the face of such disapproval?? blush.gif

The Met seem confident in their medium range outlook that conditions will turn much colder by day 15

That is a bit premature, as the models go out to the 16th of Feb or so. And plus, UKMO shows good potential for Northern blocking on its last chart (T+144)

Milder next Tuesday onwards into the weekend beyond that is still uncertain as snowman has already posted, the models seem to suggest a possible blockin. My feeling is that the Atlantic will loose out and by the middle of February the Easterly will take control and give us a last blast of the Winter, how severe we will see. Wiser forecasters know that this winter is not over yet and the battle for control begins next weekend again.

Possibly the Wednesday system may bring sleet and snow at first, something to keep an eye on IMO
