Cells appear to be intensifying in the channel - very tempted to go for a drive down the M20! At least night is falling soon too and any lightning will be visible from a distance!!

i may take a trip to dover cliffs see what i can see

Storms avoided us again of course Typical...

Yes it missed to the west of here. Still heard plenty of thunder and a few pink flashes of lightning, plus a very short-lived downpour. I think that's it for the night here, unless something else pops up out of nowhere.

Just logged back on. After what seemed like a eternity waiting for this Line to cross from the West we finally saw some action here North of Buxton (Derbys) just past 8pm.

The skies darkened and initially it was nothing but mid-level precip and I thought the storm had been and gone. Then the cell came from behind the murk, a gradual mist with ominous booming of thunder which got louder and more frequent as it approached Northwards from the South. The surrounding landscape got enveloped in rain and the heavens literally opened as CG/CC lightning began flicking overhead almost consistently. Knowing ESTOFEX had a slight warning for possible Tornadic activity I was hesitant in knowing that something could appear at any moment, so was keeping one eye on the Lightning and another on the rain/wind movements.

In all the Core lasted no more than 10 minutes. In which time the heavy precip had managed to swamp much of the roads, but little convective wind was evident here. Thats not to say elsewhere locally there couldn't/wasn't damage resulting from this storm as visibility was extremely limited. Barely from one side of the valley to the other (2 miles.)

Here you go - you might also consider subscribing to the NetWeather radar package, which updates every 5 mins as opposed to every half an hour.

Evening everyone,

I drive for Stagecoach, and earlier I had to take a driver from our depot near St. Ives, to Peterborough.

Running west along the A14, we encountered a storm that had lovely structure. It finally caught us on the A1, giving monsoon like conditions.

There has recently been a lovely storm to my south. Unfortunately, I only have my mobile with me, so have had to upload a few shots to Facebook :drinks:.

Just shows how useless the national forecast was for this area , best weather towards the south east and we had a supercell :drinks:

Well done kaddy though :)

What are the chances of anything happening in Surrey (Reigate) tonight, looking at the loops I get the distinct impression I'm going to miss the lot :drinks:

Can still see lightning from the cells now to my northwest. They look pretty strong on the net radar. Anyone in Huddersfield?

Thanks, I wish I'd done a longer video, but I was busy looking out the front and back and it kind of crept up on me. I read Harry's post with interest, we have indeed witnessed quite a few of these in this area, so if I see any more in future I'll train the camera on them!.
