Today in Norwich has been one of those dull muggy days when it looked like it was going to chuck it down but only drizzled. But at 7pm, all of a sudden the heavens opened- the third huge cloudburst here in the space of a week!

I went to dover this evening and have only just got back , on the way i saw this huge cumulus cloud growing and growing.. As we got closer the underside had a real beefy intense shower look about it with heavy rain shafts from its core. :good:

Whats the chances of some storms breaking out in the se 2moro??

I have had 1 storm this year (lasted about 5 mins, one flash, and one grumble)

Four years ago was amazing, we chased 2 storms and in both we had counted over 1000 flashes!!:shok: Cant wait for this to happen again :good: i love a lightning show.

Been a silent few days here lately, , barely any wind and a stubborn humid, muggy feel. Rained today, seemed to be an area of showery outbreaks passed through during the afternoon. Quite heavy too.

nice that some downpours developed ,was some big clouds this afternoon but just got flatterned by evening and spread out.

Some sunshine thursday might ignite a scattered solo light to moderate drifter...0^:

had some very heft showers here today, radar was showing very little in terms of return values, but the rain really lashed it down! some lovely shelves to the clouds aswell.

Au contraire, even Lapland seems to be under a severe risk today.

http://www.estofex.org/

Noticed far NE Europe and NW Russia have been forecast big CAPE most days recently, but then they have been having a heatwave with winds from a S or SE direction, a far cry from our weak thundery showers this summer!

Think Santa and his elves have had a much better summer than us for storms. Storm chasing by Santa's sleigh? :p

Not difficult though!

Only 2000 miles  Might take a few years to walk and swim across but it will be worth it.

Is a struggle to find anything remotely interesting concerning convection for the foreseeable future

so really is a low risk of anything thundery at this stage.

Join up to the NSC. (No Storms Club 2010! I'm Jane's teaboy!) Membership is free and a fresh cup of tea.

Weather09 will be there soon. :yahoo:

Still no forecast from ESTOFEX today - are they taking annual leave or are there really no risks in Europe today???

Don't forget it's voluntary - they might have no "staff" available today.

They normally have such a good and continued service. I guess everyone needs a break!!! Not that we in this country have anything to really worry about for a while.
