it has to be gusting atleast 60mph here

Yes the wind has picked up markedly in the last hour.

Been outside briefly, recorded gusts around 55mph or so.

Contrary to 2 hours ago, the wind is now being felt here north of Buxton. It's steadily inclimenting by the hour and already the window-sill is starting to creak nervously from some of the stronger gusts. It could be a faction of direction & height, given Manchester is reporting only 22mph winds at 0050UT.

Very windy outside, the roof's starting to creak and the chimney is howling.

I'm back in the North East for the weekend, and It's got a lot windier in the last hour here in Jarrow, Tyne and Wear.

Boulmer in Northumberland has recently had a 72mph gust, and the rest of the North East looking like around 50-60mph gusts but I wouldn't be surprised if some other prone spots were getting gusts around 70mph at the moment.

I would guess some gusts are around 60mph here in Jarrow.

Strangely calm here, not even a light breeze. It wasn't even a windy night. What's going on? I'm on the coast

Last night was interesting - round about 1am sustained strong wind. Looking outside the rain was getting blown up the road in a similar manner to what you see on videos of Hurricaines making landfall.

Computer was off so didnt check readings but looking back at a weather station near me gusts over 100 km/h

http://www.weathercast.co.uk/world-weather/weather-stations/obsid/99024.html

Impressive especially at this location.

A maximum gust of 65 mph here earlier this morning with a mean speed of 42 mph around 0520; the first gale this month.

Not as windy now but still a mean speed of 32 mph, gusting over 50 mph.

Something's not quite right, the biggest gust recorded here has been 10mph in the last 24hours.

Definately wrong.

Looks like the week ahead is shaping up to be wet and often quite windy too with gales likely for some, a succession of deep atlantic lows are rolling in with a particularly nasty looking 1 wynding itself up towards the end of the week!

Wind easing all the time now, still gusting over 40mph.

Top gust 66.7mph this morning.

Some potent looking depressions being progged this week with potential for even stronger winds than just recently, things could get rather nasty indeed especially from midweek.
