If it's still there Sunday night then I'll sit up and take notice.

It's come out of the blue for the GFS and all the charts have been pretty much going back and fourth since about 3 weeks ago.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Top temp of -1 for me next weekend, where did they come from???

I have been glued to all conversations this week and been willing our Yamkins predictions to come true an now look at those charts. I'm getting excited!!!!!!!

Winter over? Not yet :yahoo::drunk::clap::cold::help:

I don't even care if they vanish, it's all part of the fun :good:

Off to the model thread for a read :good:

GFS has in the past showed a colder trend to start with, then back-tracks and then shows the colder trend again. I wonder if we will start to see colder trends setting in here and there. By the way, GFS 00Z is showing much cooler conditions than UKMO & ECM.

I doubted WSI's forecast for February back in January. They have been spot on so far, so they are now going for a colder month of March. Have a look at my signature :cold:

To be fair Yamkin, your old sig said it would be extreme cold for the 2nd half of Feb from various sources and that has so far failed to happen.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt as we have only just started the 2nd half of the month and it may still turn colder but not for another week at the earliest by the looks of things.

I am off now for a week and wanted to go sledging with my kids in the snow you promised ;)

My sig was based on Piers Corbyn's forecast and not mine. I doubted WSI over Piers and I was wrong. I should have stuck with WSI as they got the severe period we had at the end of November correct to date.

Latest model outputs show Wed, Thur, Fri as being the ONLY milder days this coming week. GFS seems to be back-tracking towards ECM. GFS has some eye candy cold for beginning of March. Yes, I know it's in FI. Let's see what later models show and I'll get some charts up with possible ramping.

quite a few members showing colder from 27th onwards

http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/ecmwf.php

if that went past 240 it would probably show a strong north westerly

the northerly cold air flow

at least it gives us something to watch

gave up hope on the the so called cold spell two fridays ago, that eastern block sadly can't overpower the strong atlantic flow and is too far east anyway, still thursday should be fun, warmest of year so far?

cold still could shock and break through though, nothings impossible :pardon:

It will be a shock for many when the mild temps look like being short-lived and then it's back to cooler temps from Saturday. If the models still show a cooler period from Saturday, I wonder if the MetO will start releasing this in their updates.

Can't see anything in the charts this morning to suggest the Meto will be changing their tune anytime soon i'm afraid.

Still, they do change their outlooks at a drop of a hat sometimes so we shall see.

It's good that you and John are ever the eternal optimists though, keeps this thread alive even when there is no interest in the main model thread :drinks:

:unknw:

Cold is fine, but I can't see anything currently to indicate snow for the region - not even an ickle bit. Now I know snow doesn't normally show up until a few hours beforehand, but the general synopsis isn't really looking great. Sorry, I'd love it to be different, but I'm getting my Spring and Summer head on now! :yahoo:
