Sorry bit of a noob question but can someone explain that to me

Well, it shows mild air over the UK, colder air to the East over Europe and extreme cold out West over Canada.

If the cold air from the East moved over to us that would be cool but at the moment our weather is coming from the West so unlikely.

With that in mind it's logical to think that the extreme cold over Canada could end up over us but it's not that simple.

For starters that chart is for 10 days away and anything over 3-4 days away is usually considered FI or Fantasy Island as in the chances of that particular weather coming off are very low.

Still as there is nothing of interest showing in the reliable timeframe FI is all we have that we can cling to. :D

Tx Jayces, great explanation. Just getting into all this now so it's all new to me but pretty exciting

Hi Rob Gotti, Welcome to Netweather. I suppose you've seen/heard about it getting milder. Well, this will be short-lived and it will get cooler from Saturday.

On a positive note, GFS is still going for much colder conditions during the early part of March. UKMO is coming on board. ECM is not joining the other two models, but this is not surprising as it did the same thing back in December where it was wrong and GFS & UKMO were correct with the colder conditions.

March is still far off at the moment, so let's see what the models show this weekend.

surprisingly most of the models show high pressure builing to our west which

should keep out the atlantic.should be cold and dry and then going into march things

could start to get interesting (i did say could)

lets keep our fingers crossed the models do not do what they kept doing in january

http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gefs.php

shows a fair drop in temperature from 26th

quite a few cold members showing from 3rd onwards

at least the models are not showing a roaring atlantic

coming in and at least the potential for s..w is a possibility

much colder options being picked up on here :yahoo:

these do change but maybe a trend being picked up

what do you think of these yamkin?

Hi Everyone,

Please see Shuggee's message regarding the regional thread area: http://forum.netweat...ost__p__2050599

The threads will come to a close at the end of Feb.

After a great start to Winter, it's such a shame that January & February have proved to be a damp squib. Winter started out with such high hopes.... Hopefully March may bring something snowy to our neck of the woods :pardon:

Would you consider re opening them again if by some miracle we do get a nice end to winter during March?

Shut them when we know for sure that no cold spells will happen (around mid-april).

It might be an idea if the Regional Threads are kept open a little longer as there are signs of much colder conditions coming our way.

Hi Jayces, I'm afraid the decision isn't mine to make - I believe it's Paul and the moderators (reds & blues) on the site that decide. With any luck, we'll have a bout of sods law - the minute the threads close, snow prospects ramp up!

going by the fax charts if you run over the green

dots you can see how these are trending

i will hazard a guess they will be showing a north easterly

flow by tuesday or wednesday next week

Hmmmm, maybe you are on to something there, everyone stop looking at charts and posting there thought and in a couple of weeks we will get a foot of snow :)

colder ensembles with some touching -10 which was not showing last night

lowest last night was -5 so definately an improvement

be nice if these were showing more precipitation spikes

although plenty of time for that to change

I know is only one site but the weatheroutlook is starting to come on board with the cold now...starting the weekend and lasting a good few days....with snow the start of March, i know that can all change but is such a shame it does look quite promising for cold at least and the thread is going........:aggressive:

Not regional, however his forecasts did cover these shores. Joe Bas?ardi has resigned.

I note this website doesn't like Joe's name hence ? and the TinyURL
