Shut them when we know for sure that no cold spells will happen (around mid-april).

Don't worry! There will always be the option of reopening them if there is a likelihood of any really cold/snowy weather coming up. In the meantime, please make full use of the 'General weather chat' thread for just that!

Really nice day today with the sunshine finally arriving and temperatures being unusually warm (Gatwick reported 15C today) and some local stations on wunderground at

17C! after a miserable week so far!:lazy:

also the chances of colder weather starting early on next week are incereasing, BUT this has happened twice this year allready where a potential cold spell has come to nothing so i'll only start to ramp when we get inside the reliable time-frame but at least the weather is finally doing something worth talking about!:good:

 JP, you know I have a feeling that Saturday 5th and Saturday 12th are going to throw up some challenging weather just because I have two events planned outside, with young people, one that involves tree planting in a bleak area NICE! I've got warm/waterproof clothing so I will be alright :good: could be heaps of fun if we got some wintery weather :cold:

Soup anyone LOL

Hi John, could you actually post explanations to all the charts you post? There are a few of us on here that the charts alone mean nothing....

A few JP :D looking forward to hearing more :hi:

hi snowy

sorry about that should have only posted the 5th

but linked to main charts.

even i got confused reading that and i posted them

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/MT8_London_ens.png

ensembles for london agree on a cool down to the 27th

as these are 850 temperatures you need to add approx 6 degees

in temperature to get what it will be on the ground

the red line is the average temp for the time of year

when you get to the 1st of march you can see a bit of a

scatter.this normally means the ensembles are not in agreement

so we will have to wait probably until tomorrow to see whether

they agree.

the bottom is the precipitation spikes

the problem is they are showing very dry which could

mean high pressure is in control although these will probably

change in the morning

http://www.meteociel.fr/ukmo/fax/fax120s.gif

this shows high pressure in control so we need to

see where it goes to predict for 3rd onwards

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn18017.png

just as a rough temperature guide

i expect the charts to show cold again tomorrow

i cannot post too much in links as i only have dial up for now

should be back properly tomorrow night

different outcomes at 84

main models seem to show high pressure in charge but

outlook looks colder but dry for now <_<

not including saturday and sunday which looks wet and windy

i will post the ensembles to see what they say soon

wet weekend cold and dry to the 3rd

then models seem to disagree with outcome

http://www.meteociel.fr/ukmo/fax/fax120s.gif

120 fax chart shows high pressure more to the west

with colder 528 dam air heading towards us

tomorrow nights fax may shed some light as to whether

we will be under high pressure for a while or it decides

to move upwards and away from us.

fax charts are worth following as it stops me taking

fi to seriously.Although i still look at them

and post the good ones. :p

note the 510 dam air to our east.

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/Rtavn18017.png

just to show that it will not be warm.

back again tomorrow night

http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gfse_cartes.php?mode=5&ech=6

http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gfse_cartes.php?mode=5&ech=204

a final point is the jet stream seems to be all over the place

at the moment.I think we may start to see more confusion in the

charts later.

a interesting chart is the 3rd to 4th which shows the

jet blasting over us fron the North East which may be worth watching

Jaycee, think of it this way, like the sun being over the yard arm at a particular time when you think it is apprpriate to have a drink, it will be snowing tomorrow somewhere!

See you next winter :drinks:

Well, it's soon Spring, so thank you to all of you who have posted this Winter. Such a shame that other than December, this Winter has been a big disapointment. It started off with such high hopes.... and for a newly tested Regional Host, I'd also like to say that I have had an easy ride in the fact that you have, on the whole, been well behaved

If any of you love a good Thunderstorm, and the whole excitement of tracking them moving up from Northern France, then I look forward to banter in the storm thread's for 2011. Otherwise, here's to Winter 2011/12 :cold::drinks:

gfs is a warm outlier but dry

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/MT8_London_ens.png

http://www.wetterzentrale.de/wz/pics/brack4.gif

cool and dry with the only excitement being some nightime frosts

look like high pressure until 9th

we could see some sleet tomorrow if showers

get heavy enough

i think the board maybe a bit quiet for a few days :lazy:

sorry last day today its a shame we cannot have a last day rampede

be back late goodnight

Maybe a bit colder over the next few days but I suspect anything falling out of the sky will be sleety at best. Looking forward to Summer and those long overdue thunderstorms this year!

Plenty of threads to keep us all occupied anyway, catch you in a few of them!
