There's a small but well defined tower with a glaciating top so turning into a CB a bit to my NNW, two of us thought we heard something like thunder about 10 mins ago but I didn't think it was as at that point it just looked like a cumulus congestus, didn't realise how high it had got!

Isolated sharp shower shown on radar associated with it.

UKMO ATD confirms thunder from that cell where you are, so you probably did hear it!

Hi, (my first post here on these forums) I'm in Wolverhampton and we've just had a few rumbles of thunder, but it's passed now.

Welcome to the forum :)

Dispite my earlier nagging doubts, this is turning into a very promising afternoon for us West Midlanders

Gone silent here now with cloud cover and not much else lol. I think I jinxed it!

Although latest radar gives me at least some hope!

Frequent rumbles to the north now. If it were nighttime I'd have a great view of any lightning, but it's not so I'll have to make do with the thunder. It's pretty large though this storm and we have a poopload of midges in the back garden. Gotta love this weather!

I have a dark cloud advancing towards me. Do you think this thing will hit me?

Yep ... Towers climbing rapidly now to the East (Wolverhampton/Black country) with rumbles of thunder.

Obs now being scuppered by some mid-level AC moving across with higher elevated Cirrus feeding in moisture ahead of the front. By-far scuppering the temps and if anything helping humidity increase further aiding things somewhat. Photography wise those in the midlands now have the best skies to capture tCU/CBs and anvil activity for the rest of today.

What sort of path are any developing storms likely to take? I watch the sat24 loop and UK developments dont seem to move much and French developments seem to be following a definate E-W pattern.

Very muggy here in Shotton near Peterlee; had a sprinkle of rain earlier between 1 and 2pm.

I can see the top of the shower between Middlesbrough and Whitby; looks like Saltburn is being hit; it looks like there is an anvil, is that shower thundery?

Just as I was reading your post I hear a definate distant rumble! It's so tiny though! More cumulus congestus sprouting up to the east of it. Annoyingly it prob won't get any closer due to a sea breeze here!

Honestly. I have no idea! It keeps showing signs of backbuilding so you never know. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best. Thunder continuing to the north here, skies are black. We have stayed dry though and no lightning seen yet.

Cumulus lines building north and east of Cardiff at the moment. Not expecting anything here, but an interesting development and watching the clouds build. Good crisp edges.

That looks like a very serious beastie now in the pennines. White blobs on it.
