Oh yes rain is great here in the East. Much needed and we have had a lot over the last week. From looking outside it just seems the potential isn't there but we have been forecast storms by Netweather so wondering if this band of rain will clear and give way to some convection

Well yes of course lol

I know what you mean though, I didn't see it no.

EDIT - I'm not seeing it on any detectors yet :cc_confused: though I have the window open and I'm 99.9% sure it was!

EDIT AGAIN - Yay it definitely was...vindicated :D

Just had a flash and a rumble here.

I'm kind of liking that area on the North Kent/Essex/Suffolk coast bordering the North Sea after lunch:

Blimey!!! the charts actually worked!!!! c078.gif

Woohoo - just had a terrific close-by flash, and loud thunder! Hardly any rain at all so far...

EDIT - Here's the rain!

Just had a second flash, and loud rumble. Not a patch on the first one though.

Thunderstorm reported at Norwich airport at 12z.

Not surprised to hear that after the heavy rain around lunchtime. Picking up a lot of sferics on the radio (stranded in shed after recent heavy shower) but nothing seen or heard apart from the sound of water dripping merrily from a leaking gutter unsure.gif

Nice little cell just passed me about 10 miles north. Couple of rumbles, 1 CG and a flash. Still doesn't count as me out of the no storms club though!

On the subject of the post weekend thundery potential, I am really looking forward to the potential for some great thunderstorms. Looks like a good chance for some, who ever they end up being.

I might end up being in Brighton through the weekend into mid next week which would be in a great spot. If not, wouldn't count Westbury out.

Edit: Following the model output thread very closely, the thundery potential with these set ups is always very knife-edge.

Yet another *fail* by the BBC Northwest forecasters, warning yesterday of some quite substantial showers for today infact almost falling short of saying they were 'dangerous' in nature. I've also noticed a same trend in that whenever the weekend comes they'll forecast lower temperatures or worser weather than it actually turns out to be, wether this is somehow a incentive to make people stop going outdoors and stay glued to the Eastenders re-runs is beyond me but any idiot by now can see their recent outputs have been abysmal at best.

For a week now consistently here in the Northwest they've warned everyday of imminent thundery showers, guess what. NONE have turned up. Outside of the odd downpour which didn't even soak the plants long enough there's been no doom or gloom here.
