Hi GS lightning acitivity about 3-4 strikes so not a huge amount when you compare the thunder! One strike was literally above me and shotgun thunder. Have you seen how the storms are developing? It has exploded around the Seaham area headed south towards Peterlee. I would go chase but could imagine the A19 blocked lol

Better than nothing but the low cloud is very slowly clearing now and winds will probably start back more NW'ly now so if we do get any more convective showers which I doubt then we might actually see some lightning!

And it would of been a waste of time anyways, by the time you get down there, the storm would of been gone but it shows how quickly things can develop as they did up here!

An interesting example of high CAPE not necessarily producing storms in France. What storms there are at the moment are in the far west. Look at the Trappes ascent and sat image and you will see what I mean. you can see on the ascent that the boundary layer is very dry.

Indeed there is! Some just started to form above Canterbury.

After a slight dip in the temperature has now risen to 30.6C.

Despite a bit of a convergence zone over us and rising temps back to 26.9C zippo happening. Three forecasts though said zippo for us and one said storms. Can't complain can I really.

Some development up in Northumberland again, but that MCS is perilously close now so it may kill off any more thundnerstorms.

Just doing some drive-by filming at the moment for the programme in case you are wondering why we keep going backwards and forwards

I thought it was on a loop or you had gone completely mad or something, thanks for clearing that up

Clouding over here now from the west - is this the first sign of what's to come later?

Up to 24°C again with loads of steam rising from the rooftops - that's quite a recovery from the 15°C we dropped to during the storms!

Wow 24C, you must not be affected by the NE'ly breeze then? Or your temperature is too high? Winds still coming from a NE'ly direction for the time being. I doubt the cold front will produce anything around here but one will wait and see.

Maybe my temperature is wrong, but it certainly feels very warm and humid again. No low cloud at all here, though I can see some to my South and East. I don't think I'm being affected by the breeze.

Oh really? hmm interesting....has this just sprung up? I cant access any of NW plans and radars..got one hell of a useless internet connection...any reports of it from over there?

PB

It's been there for a few hours, running NNE along the Cold Front as it edges E. It hasn't reached the tip of Cornwall or SW Wales yet and there

are heavy showers ahead of it which look set to move into Cornwall.

Theres definately some intensification going on to the south of us now. How intense and how electrified remain to be seen!

Must have been a hell of a down draft for that storm to reduce the temperature like that.

the temps are still trying to recover!!

Just noticed some fresh sferics popping up across C N France - quite frequent too!

Could this be the early stages of what we have been sitting waiting for?

Have read on another forum that line to the west of Wales and SW England is electrically active.
