even with the cloud cover down here it shouldn't be a problem if the storms are elevated, I have seen elevated storms develop in overcast conditions plenty of times.

PATIENCE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

:p

Something else appears to be forming near Durham but it wont make it to Newcasle if it develops, maybe Sunderland this time...

Back up to 21°C, hopefully a nice evening in store now :)

Are you writing the rest of the afternoon and evening off in terms of storm potential in the Northeast?

As i've said many times it isn't until late evening/midnight before it all kicks off.

I Put it a bit bigger for the pessimists, Has always been the case for the SE.

I think so. If anything does crop up I doubt it'll top what we've already had anyway.

Well it did brighten up a little here but back to high cloud now. In my opinion I really cant see much occurring away from the East now.

Apparently there was no rain in Sunderland, just distant thunder!

Based on what? I can hear thunder to my south again probably around the Sunderland area the shower is intensifying rapidly. I really don't think you can write off the afternoon until it's all stopped.//...

Yeah, but I think its all tied into that trough which is clearing away to the east. There's nothing on the radar now either.

I'm just talking about the far NE - further south you could still see something, though that old MCS is spoiling things atm.

You've got about 30-45 mins until they clear into the North Sea whistling.gif

There's always a nuclear sub :)

Sun back out here so probably a warm/hot dry evening to come. Come on cold front hurry up.

Thoroughly doubt it mate, I am admittedly a pessimist when it comes to summer storms because I can't even remember the last time I've seen a big one with frequent lightning and decent hail, it's been years....

Every time there's ever a chance of French imports hitting the home counties, they either bog off north-eastwards and give Kent all the action or if you're really unlucky they may move (rarely) north-westwards or develop over the Bay of Biscay moving Northerly hitting the West country.

It has been years. It's getting boring now that's why I decide to be pessimistic. I'll be a changed man if I witness a big storm tonight but guess what I bet it doesn't happen!
