No reason other than clockwise arrows to indicate the area within the black line to show where thunderstorms are moost likely. Though it maybe pretty evident anyway!

The Americans run a similar system I think, at the SPC?

Storms were developing over the north sea yesterday, rather than the land, did the coast have local convergence to kick start them? , you would expect the daytime convection to be over land, the storms would of lost the boundary layer energy as they moved off-shore..

hi, there is a chance of thunderstorms inland today yes, but yesterday alot of the storms were over sea, you would expect that at night this time of year, rather than daytime.

Prolonged and often heavy to very heavy showers all night and morning have given almost 20mm rain since midnight.

Wales covered in an absolute rash of showers/ rain all morning!

Showers have reached South Shields to cool off the finishers in the Great North Run!

Well I'd be more than satisfied, if like you said it was still laying on the floor an hour later then it must of been torrential, don't know what your expecting?

?

Why so anti-matey

It was the first decent rumble and (only)hail ive seen in what must me about 3 years now.

The image wasnt directly relating to "my" personal thoughts but more for the forums general feeling.

I do still want more storms? Whats wrong with that?

Im not "expecting" anything but it would certainly be nice to get more and certainly would be nice to have more than one or two cracks and a short ( but heavy ) shower.

Gone are the days of hour long thunder storms..

Thats what im expecting... Doubt it will ever happen again here in the UK..

Some people on this forum have had MANY big storms this year, So sorry for expecting to have some more.

Im a storm fanatic and tbh while it was great for the short amount of time that the shower was here. I need more.

Yeah, going to the states would be good, but that wont happen for a while.. So whats wrong with wanting more and more in the UK?

/rant

Wow some clouds are really building up as they head SE past me. Took a picture of how dark it looks. It seems to be heading in the Bristol direction, and I can hear distant rumbles going on high up or something. Theres some shower clouds heading for me as well from SE Wales but at the moment they don't look as impressive. Also seems to be fewer showers behind them so I'd have to be lucky in the next hour or so to see anything today before it all disappears.

Edit: Woah ok suddenly some very very dark cloud come right for me but no sferics detected at all so Im not holding out much hope. Looks like it will hammer it down soon though.

Very heavy rain just started here, sounds deafening on the conservatory roof! Gonna have to switch the lights on too! No rumbles yet though more's the pity!

Edit: 12.7mm in less than 1 hour - the drains are very busy!

I'm not expecting anything more this afternoon except maybe the odd light shower. Most forecasts are now saying any potential thundery showers gradually becoming confined to the E/SE. It's been a pretty poor year here for any activity, either something crops up over the next month, or it'll be another wait until next year. sad.png

Oh dear, the storm heading my way suddenly shrunk and went west, what a surprise!

Some pretty robust cbs to my northwest which will unbelievably move past too far north rather than too far south as they did yesterday. Not sure if there's anything from them but a lot easier to see now the lower cloud has cleared.

I *think* I heard a rumble in the last passing shower...

Interesting! Hubby asked me if I'd heard a rumble amongst the heavy rain we just had and I did think at one point that I had but wasn't quite sure...

Nothing here apart from a few blustery showers,Surrounded by black sky earliar really thought surely something is going to happen but NO the sun stayed out and not a drop of rain,As usual storms dying before they get here or pass over then get going somewhere else Typical,A disappointing weekend.
