If I remember right Jan 7th is the only snow event for 2011 thus far for this region. Hope that changes in the next few months mind!

Otherwise a dry day likely here tomorrow now as it looks like the rain will do its usual dodge around the West Midlands.

it would be great to jump from november-march, and leave december jan and feb out..

That would make our climate even duller and uneventful, what with the lack of decent thunderstorms nowadays.

Here are some photos I took today at about 6pm between Bath and Swindon (a few at the stations and a few on the train, hence the window reflections). Whilst none of the storms came over, the cloud scapes were awesome.

An interesting day watching the skys , had a few downpours almost one after another, became quite slow moving by evening, didnt hear any thunder, nice dark anvils evening with a cold feel to the air.

Great photos, i especially like the last one of the distant cumulonimbus.

We were surrounded by heavy showers convective cloud through most of afternoon(after 2pm mostly)was dark skies towards London so would imagine there were downpours, il go back date the radar and post up a couple, inbetween we had small gaps allowing us to see the fluffy anvils! (:

Convective / Storm forecast - Issued 18/09/2011 07:00

Valid: 18/09/2011 06:00 - 19/09/2011 06:00

Headline: ... THERE IS A RISK OF THUNDERSTORMS FORECAST...

Synopsis

Upper and surface low pressure over Ern Britain/N Sea during Sunday will bring an unstable NWerly flow across England, Wales and NErn Scotland.

... E WALES, ENGLAND and NE SCOTLAND ...

Scattered heavy showers will again develop across many areas through the day, with thunderstorms most likely across E Wales and England where greatest CAPE is indicated. Thunderstorms will develop by early afternoon, as surface heating increases cloud top heights in cool rPm airmass characterised by steep lapse rates. Vertical shear will be rather weak, so non-severe pulse-type singular cell storms are likely like yesterday – bringing pea-sized hail, occasional CG lightning, gusty winds and heavy rain with a risk of flooding. Convection may decrease in intensity by late afternoon from the west.

No reason other than clockwise arrows to indicate the area within the black line to show where thunderstorms are moost likely. Though it maybe pretty evident anyway!

Ah fair enough..

Thought it may of been to do with directions of pressure systems or something.

:)

No matter..

Fingers crossed for today!

Lets hope i get to hear more than two rumbles...

Well I'd be more than satisfied, if like you said it was still laying on the floor an hour later then it must of been torrential, don't know what your expecting?
