Snowing here, failing to make an impression on the ground other than wetting it but the temperature is dropping, now down to 2.3/-0.1. Don't know how much longer it'll hold as snow here but I reckon we've got another hour or two at least of it being cold enough.

Some fairly major snowfall for the Highlands potentially I'd imagine, thoughts?

Hi Rab. Yes, especially now that they are modelling -10 uppers as well.

well, for the first time in a looong time, netweathers weather report was 100% wrong for my area! 0% chance of snow was predicted and i got a fair dumping of it and it looks like theres more to come. Ah well, nobodys perfect ;-)

Moderate snow, medium size flakes and everything has turned white.

I watched the BBC forecast at noon, it had rain across Fife.

Really weird stuff here... was snow to start, then turned to rain, then it turned to weird hail that bounced off things without making any noise and now it's back to wet snow. The snow is washing our 2mm covering away though. :(

seems the level of snow cover has come as a bit of surprise to forecasters would that be fair to say?

Will this storm thur/fri effect all of scotland or just the north?

Think we will all get it looks pretty rough...very marginal but it might be blizzards at the tail end!

Maybe there's a warm bias in the models in this sort of situation. You just have to look at the subzero dewpoints in the east today....-3C in Leuchars but zero to +1C south od the Forth.

Pretty much all of Scotland but much of the north/ eastern areas eg: US! would be the target along with NE England. That is the sort of chart you often see on the last frames of GFS in FI and you think aye right! It is very concerning that it's only 36/48hrs away! I wish someone more used to model watching LS? could give their views. Not talking about precipitation, it's the wind that is concerning.

its hard to know what to think about thursday/friday now - bbc/met/netweather all got today so very wrong - usually one of that trinity will get some aspects correct on a given day - but today - all completly wide of the mark lol so currently only the met is predicting any action for Glasgow/Cumbie area on Thursday......just no idea! lol
