Well Jane we moved here in 2009 and this is the worst storm we can remember. It was bad in November 2009, but this is worse than that!

It was reported on BBC Spotlight of problems on the Tamar Bridge. I must try and listen to Radio Devon for traffic news!

This may help Phil, there is also a webcam on there

ooooh. Big winds, incoming. Starting to get some big gusts now.

I don't have an anemometer, but I can see some pretty big trees starting to bend outside and the howling is getting louder, even through mostly soundproof walls.

Whereabouts in North Wales are you Gorath?

Nick- that 974mb will be the absolute air pressure... when adjusted to sea-level indeed we are at 980mb over in Manchester...

984mb slp here.

Reporting absolute pressure is a total waste of time, though.

Wowzer. :clapping: T'was only just over 3 hours since I posted that :acute: and the AT is now 7.5c (up 1.6c), DP 6.9c (up 2.5c) and Barometer reading of 996.0hpa (down 6.8hpa) falling rapidly. Rainfall started at approx. 17.30 and I have received 3.8mm thus far. 24mph maximum gust at 19:20.

More reports please?

Many hours of rainfall to come yet and I think the CF will be waking a few people up from their beds.

It's bad from to reply to my own thread but there you are. I think we have "Bomb cyclogenesis" going on, however I could be wrong? See here for details. http://weather.ou.ed...sis/index2.html

I'm down sarf and have been expecting a wild night for a few days now. However, just imagine what the folk up north have got coming when its bombing like it is. Latest Fax CChart I saw showed something like a 948hpa trough tomorrow. :help:

Anyways my latest is AT 7.6c, DP 7.1c, Air Pressure 994.8hpa falling rapidly. Rainfall 5.4mm and counting, 24mph sstill the max gust.

Cheers

Latest from North BTL - about a mile and a half from the M4/M5 interchange.

Been lashing down with rain for just under 3 hours - in the last 90 minutes the wind has really increased in strength - a v stormy night here for sure. Feels like the worst for a couple of years.

Our latest wind is a maximum gust of 55mph, nothing too hairy yet, I am sad to say I am hoping for more. Sustained wind is fairly steady with a max of 41 mph.

pressure in now dropping slowly to 997mb currently. This is supposed to peak in my area around midnight so another 3 hours at least of watching for me. Lucky I don't have to be up too early tomorrow.

I believe that's 947mb - Monster!

Could be a notable wind event for the NW tomorrow night, 70-75mph gusts predicted here with mean speeds of 45-50mph.

May gust over 80mph for Western Scotland.

Wow it sounds amazing out there! All kinds of gusty sounds lol

Well pressure has dropped since 17.30 from 1003mb to 997mb.

Quite windy out with rain. I can hear the wind blowing round the house as i'm on the end!

Current conditions Temperature: 7 °C Comfort Level: 3 °C Dew point: 5 °C Barometer: 997 millibars Humidity: 87% Visibility: 9 km Wind: 22 km/h from 180° Southsa0.png

The above reading was taken at 19.30.

Does anyone have a good station for Luton as I am interested in seeing what the gusts are here?

Meto did have wind warnings this morning for Tuesday night but have since removed them, but still on the Meto town forecasts predicting 75mph here.

Very nasty system Tuesday evening, make no mistake.
