Last time it was my bloke travelling to reach me in gale-force winds; this time it's me going to his, what is it with storms and seeing each other?! :) I'm being sensible and taking the train though, so unless they close the Forth Bridge, I should reach Fife nae probs.

the Road bridge site has a cracking chart of the last 24 hours wind speeds

I've only had 4 hours sleep and won't have anymore. This far worse than Bawbag, the noise is awful and one of the windows has just blown open. It's really terrible weather! How long is there left of this endless hell? I suppose 4 hours sleep is better than no hours.

Light are flickering all the time now. Think the sting jet is coming through cause it's unbelievable. My mum has said that it reminds her of the January 1968 storm. All I can hear outside is things smashing against the window and car alarms. I usually love the wind and extreme weather, but this is too much.

Lights are flickering here too. It's a constant wind too and the gusts are unbelievable with the sound of bins blowing over, glass breaking. You can and hear and feel the pressure on the windows and at time it feels like the door was going to blow off and the roof was going rip off! Perhaps because of all of the houses, alleyways, streets - it creates a funnel of wind and it makes sound worse than it is. Vicious stuff!

I really am surprised that no fence or tree in the area has blown over yet. The tree outside my house is not the biggest nor thickest, but over the years at times you feel it would blow over. It's roots support it well, though in bawbag it hardly needed any support as it wasn't that bad. But today could be the day that it loses it's battle against the gales.

Just standing at the door watching the neighbour's shed being ripped apart, while the glass on the door is bending. Feels almost surreal.

I would agree with previous comments in that this is a fierce storm. The angle of the winds is perfect to funnel straight through the Central Lowlands and is obviously doing some damage. Luckily for me I still have electricity for now but have also got the flickering lights.

Just heard the noise of a handful of distant bins blowing over. I hope that gust isn't heading for me! Also, looking out onto the street I can see and hear all the wine bottles rolling down the street.

Reports that Forth Road Bridge closed.

This is some storm. Whole house is shaking, and the bin men have just created 34 rather large green missiles to add to the debris and tiles. Kids are freaked out (except wee one), no tv, power flickering. Don't envy all that are returning to work today.

Different story here - rain lashing against windows a few hours ago, now just... nothing, no wind or rain, just thick cloud.
