Looks like a line of very light snow showers have developed and are moving westwards through eastern Essex. Anyone between Colchester and the Isle of Sheppy seeing any snow flurries?

Light dusting in colchester

Sky is very very orange to my North East (SS9) Looks like some Flurries will hit me shortly!

Light dusting in colchester

Looks like it's heading towards the eastern side of London too and intensifying very slightly as it does so. Wouldn't mind a light dusting tonight! Will whet the appetite for tomorrow (hopefully!)

I said earlier that the winds will back between 00z and 06z to the ENE & This now looks like it is happened, definately more ENE To WSW Flow now at the Estaury. Few grains have fallen and are on the car windscreen but I am in the Northern part of Leigh, looks like the line extends a bit to my south from the 1am radar as well

Edit: Moderate Now!

This ground is absolutely primed for settling snow. Car roofs covered in a 5 minute burst. Sky still looks favourable but stopped to a few grains for now

Still going - Lol

Roads and Paths now have a dusting and Car roofs completely covered! Does not look like much more on radar but the Lamp Post looks cool with is just floating down with hardly any wind.

All heading WSW Towards Bas Vegas and London area

I hope it doesn't fizzle out before it gets here! It sort of appeared from nowhere on the radar. The showers must have developed in situ.

Looks like it's already starting to fragment as it heads west. Didn't really look intense enough to survive very long as it pushed inland.

It isn't even supposed to arrive in the UK until around midday..

Yep dying off now and strangely dragging some Sea Mist along with it now. Anyway a welcome bonus and a decent covering on all surfaces except the grass.

Temp : -1.0c

Dew : -4.1c

Bedski!

I'm talking about a line of very light snow showers moving through Essex from off the North Sea at the moment.

I think "danm" is talking about the current weak showers pushing in off the North Sea....not tomorrows feature.

Clear and -4C in Watford - still waiting with bated breath to see what tomorrow's night will bring, though ideally I would have liked the 850 mb and the dam down a tad 'because we look like ending up on Sunday morning with soggy snow and I much prefer the dry powdery stuff.

In the time taken to type this it is now -4.1C :)

Just read the posts on the light snow in Essex and have looked outside. I have a dusting! The first snow of the winter where I live, although there was a similar dusting where I work in the last week.

Yes, I'd much prefer 'the main event' snow to be moving westwards too. Selfishly of course!

Snow cover makes such a difference, temps generally -15 to -20 C in the Netherlands after a 5 cm snow cover established on Friday.

I think the GFS fails to incorporate feedback on this system and advances the 850 mb and thickness parameters too easily, no resistance shown but considerable likely -- it is still -10 C at places like B'ham and Benson.

Outlined thoughts on snow potential in the main snowfall thread, generally 10-20 cms southeast England. Could mix with freezing drizzle especially west of London. Drive with extreme caution. You may be good, but the other guy may not.
