Louise Lear on News 24 has snow over the NW this afternoon on her forecast , with Wigan sitting well within the area of Snow...so maybe things are set to get interesting this afternoon

We need that heavy ppn to hurry up! Roads up here are covered and just about drivable but the snow is a little grainy and wet at time. Higher intensity is needed or the accumilation will be slow. 2cm deep roughly

Give it another hour and a half before nocturnal cooling starts taking place, remember this time of year daytime max's (even in winter there is such a thing) so that's just another added favourability for us.

Liverpool airport going for heavy snow and then later tonight further snow, i think now after this morning thats being a bit OTT from them..i just cannot see where this colder upper air is coming from, this far west as liam says...more like rain...and that warning needs changing especially the part about ice...needs merseyside and west cheshire removed from it..

No, not anywhere near Liverpool. Admit it, its game over, you are kidding yourself! :search:

actually its the airport who issue the forecast..looks to me like rain..cant see anything changing..mind you i was surprised by the airport's over confidence of heavy snow, still can happen but unlikely

Typical warm front characteristics here, no chance of proper snow until fronts occlude

Yes, but will it occlude over the NW. Answer, probably not. :lazy:

Despite some hvy precip already across N Eng heaviest snow is likely near 6pm in association with the 'triple point'pic.twitter.com/2E70jcCG

Can someone with superior knowledge divulge on the above... sounds very very interesting ......

Latest radar and T850 data. Lot's of rain to come folks! Or snow for the lucky people that live towards the east of the region.

Cold front has caught the warm front up now. I think the models have underestimated the warm front and milder sector.

The triple point is the intersection of the cold, warm, and occluded fronts

RAMP RAMP RAMP .. MAtt Hugo again: FYI the triple point is where the warm, cold and occluded fronts meet. By 1800Z that's across Cumbria/Lancs.

Sounds awesome, isn't that way futher west that we thought is was ? meaning more snow for the NW ? surely those with freezing rain etc now should get someing better later ?
