Absolute pasting here, massive flakes, the heaviest its been, no intensity issues for a while now, should be heavy for the next few hours, just marginality now that comes into it, especially for people further west.

The uppers within the cold front are only about 0 to -1c, not good new for those who haven't yet had snow unfortunately especially the further west you are, Manchester eastwards seems like a good bet for snow continuing.

Surely it stands to reason that milder uppers would be pushed across the region as the colder air moves in, which will temporarily cause rain to fall across the region, before the whole region experiences snow?

sadly the weather does not stand to reason though lol We had powder snow this morning, before we ended up with drizzle before more flakes came down, then we had nothing for a while, and again now light flakes.

Give it another hour and a half before nocturnal cooling starts taking place, remember this time of year daytime max's (even in winter there is such a thing) so that's just another added favourability for us.

Snowing steadily in Macclesfield. Started with fine powdery snow about an hour ago, and turned to moderate/heavy snow for the past 30 mins. it's blowing around quite a bit, too.

No good at the back of the front, we need them pulled forward into the main frontal area.
