I hope you all get freezing rain like weve had all day in the northwest

just saw the ECM (Ohhh goody) this week COULD turn out to be one to remember :-) , cars outside beginning to turn white on the roofs :-) Dew point down to -0.3 though , so it's still touch and go here , but steady snow now falling (beginning to wonder if the weather station has a fault, because IMO a dew point of -0.3 wouldn't support snowfall ?

The other half has just left for a 12 hr night shift with ambulance service across east Kent... E packed some extra supplies in case he has to walk home

He didn't understand my point that he was lucky to be in a position to watch it all night !

Could be an interesting shift !

If you're truly hoping that, you're out of luck already.

When is front meant to slow? it seems to be moving pretty quick still!

It's going to bump into the really cold stuff just in the North Sea which will basically impede it's progress so it will continue to occlude over the London/SE whilst making very very slow progress SE'Wards.

Hasnt got to me yet and the radar is pink for last 1/2 hour - perhaps its sporadic due to temps?

Heavy snow and laying on road ,fantastic

Might be safer to watch from the pavement ...

This could be epic now, the very cold air over France will be sucked into the circulation now that warm advection has stopped almost altogether, and the frontal trough is set to grind to a halt near a Heathrow to Weybourne line. Could snow moderately to heavily all night and pile up to 20-30 cms in places. Minimum of 10 cms across the region, by looks of it. Some very cold nights to follow, the snow is worth 5 to 8 degrees in terms of overnight lows in any given air mass as demonstrated earlier in Holland.

ohh - just crept above freezing, 0.2 in central kent. Steadily rising.

What this means to me is that it would need to snow heavily and consistently, as it will be melting all the while!

As soon as it slows / stops, you know whats gonna happen...

Has this been overhyped?

Enjoy the snow-show, nothing but drizzle here in Portsmouth. Created a weather-special Jumblgram (the new word puzzle with a twist!) Between the lamp-post watching for those precious white flakes, see how you do with this ... (Clue: The answer is topical!) :good:
