why all the negativity? the last front was forecast to stall earlier than it did. the weather forecasts are all stating uncertainty regarding this event. how many times have you seen snow forecasts be spot on? probably never. my gut feeling on this one is that the front will push further than predicted again, giving a good dumping of snow for those who think they are getting none. as others have said, some of the best snow i have seen, wasn't forecast! I think we will see a few showers cropping up after lunch as the front starts to decay up against the block, before pulling away SSW.

They are starting to build in the N.Sea and EA now.

Although the whole thing does appear to be rapidly decaying on it's eastern flank...

I can't for the life of me see where this is going at the moment. Fairly sure that a lot of the SE will see snow, maybe some slushy rain, but where exactly and when? :unknw:

Plenty of lying snow still on the ground in East Sussex and some of West Sussex, so if we can get a few cms, I might be posting from home tomorrow! :yahoo:

"Now looking like a major change of type going into next week.

Clue is in the T+120 FAX issue today 8/2/12. Note the strong warm advection

west of Greenland at about 53 degrees west. 24 hours later (on Monday) we

will then start to see a Miles extension or plunge of deep cold air just

east of the meridian in an arctic northerly. This change of type will be

most noticed in Northern Ireland which has been relatively mild recently,

sleet and snow showers will pack into there early next week. With a

reservoir still of cold air to tap into to our NE the northerly could be

quite potent. After then it is unclear whether further systems will come

down from the NW or the high will topple into UK. ECM ensembles would

suggest the former introducing less cold air, although some UKMO products

would indicate a full blown omega block developing with a high over Iceland

region and a bitter snowy NE'ly spell. This has to be a low probability

outcome at this stage though. "

Sorry guys and girls have to agree with SM on this one, radar looks good but everything on the eastern flank is fading when coming up against the advancing high and east winds, core is going to slide down the spine and then shift west.

Will have to look north for next possibility to increase the very icy 5cms left from saturday.

There's still a surprising amount of snow on the ground here, still a couple of inches thick on the grass and uncleared surfaces.

I'm doubtful about snow tonight unless we get lucky and catch some being on top of a hill.

i think you should look at the satellite before giving up

Please! I will be the first to hold my hands up if im wrong but, and maybe I should have been clearer before but the areas which did best last time I don't think will see anything more than a cm tops this time round.

If you took the NAE as gospel then it's pretty much a Wales only event, as SM says we'll need to luck out big time and hope the near dead Eastern flank of the front can still provide a few showers.

If I can get 2 cms that will be enough for a new Snowman head - I reckon 2cm is the best anyone can hope for in the SE

The lunchtime foracast will give us a better idea but if I was to draw a line where there could be 1-3cm I would so the very eastern edge to be Richmond at best!
