As the rain falls on the ground, the ground will gradually warm up anyway - in such scenarios you could theoretically get a icy layer of mist forming neat the surface

Model output looks interesting again this morning. After a little mild interlude theres support for a full on Northerlry next week. Not the best for us, but if we get a trough or two then who knows.

Rain here getting a little lighter, icicles starting to form as well.

No, not at the moment, last night felt very cold although i dont think it got too cold to be honest, there were a few icicles at the side of the garage and a slight frost on the cars. This morning its about 0.8 degrees here, drizzly rain, no freezing rain and no snow.

Forgot to add to my post above that the icicles are still there although its light drizzly rain? Lol,

Sorry couldnt edit my post as ipad doesny like long posts so cant yype out of the quote section!

Pitter patter pitter patter. a familiar sound in this neck of the woods this winter. Looking like those in the South of the region might just get lucky later today, rain being currently modelled too turn to snow late in the evening. No chance of that happening round here though.

It's warming up fast here, so you'd expect eventually any ice would melt.

That said there isn't much ice on the ground, its mostly wet, and there is a misty nature.. it is -0.7C but it would appear the ground has warmed to above that of the air temperature.

we had a little amount of freezing rain for a very short period, enough to make it a bit hazardous on the pavements, but this has now changed to rain / drizzle. Temperature is still below freezing at -1.4C with dewpoint at -3C.

Friend at the airport's forecast. This morning rain will affect us for a while, as the milder air digs in, before colder air arrives later in the day. rain will change back to freezing rain before turning to snow over the very southern part of the region for a short period of time. (my area, south liverpool, hale and runcorn) overnight. Uncertainty is ruling at the moment, but rain to snow event is around 50/50 while rain to freezing rain and remaining this is 60/40 and rain throughout today and overnight 20/80% Lots of uncertainty at this time.

But as things stand it definitely looking from down here, a rain to freezing rain event before a 50/50 chance of snow overnight...might seem good odds, but i bet those odds drop through the day :(
