Duggleby's not so far away. Rate of drop has reduced significantly, now -9.8 though.

Pretty nippy here too tonight: now down to -7.6 C!!

Gettin' rreal cold over the snowfields of East Yorkshire tonight. Must be one of the coldest parts of the country: I would say that a shetered Wolds valley or somewhere just North of here in the Vale of Pickering could get the coldest UK temperature tonight.

Nights like this are the most annoying.. when the skies are clear, snow cover is okay, but the breeze just refuses to go for some reason..

I think I'll go to sleep, and see how low it has gotten when I wake up!

Not all of East Yorkshire is doing so well, the wind just wont die down here, so the temperature has actually risen to -2.4C from a low of -2.8C earlier.

Pretty annoying as its completely clear and would be very cold if only it was calmer!

Coldest place tonight I reckon would be thixendale in the wolds a village at the bottom of a steep valley a well known frost hollow. Shame there's no weather station. Currently -6.1c and still 12cm of snow in my garden :D

Thixendale is a fair bet.Huggate would be another. All sheltered from any breeze from the East and should have a katabatic flow from the surrounding hills.

Off to bed now...500 posts! Took me long enough!

The problem with Yorkshire is that it's nearly in balmy Scotland. You need to head south where it looks likely that temperatures will get down to -15c tonight.

I'm in Warthill, near York tonight.

Me and my girlfriend picked a good weekend to come up here from Nottingham, it's beautiful here.

It was -8.5C on the car when we got here at 10pm, I think it's probably colder now.

I've just been outside in the village and taken some photos which I have uploaded here if you're interested...

Looking forward to a beautiful morning later, going to try to get up and out early for some more pics.

-6.7c here... the slight breeze is stopping the temp from plummeting.
